I think if you trash the Splenda and sub either sugar or Trivia, you have yourself a real winner here.
try using simple syrup to make this. No aftertaste and just sweet enough. Splenda is too sweet, IMO
Hey Joan Marie, as a diabetic for more than 40 years, I appreciate the recipe that calls for Splenda. And I liked this! Furthermore, if you were familiar with the guidelines for carbohydrate and sugar intake, you would know that a broad statement such as “shouldn’t be drinking anyway” is a little ignorant. Thanks Sandra!
While I’m sure the choice of Splenda was for sugar reduction, it’s not exactly the best thing to put into your body (check it on the web).
I mean hey, if you’re going to use a couple of cups of vodka, you may as well use 3-4 tsps of real sugar.
With the exception of people who have a problem with sugar intake (and really shouldn’t be drinking alcohol anyway), sugar will at worst be metabolized for those who don’t. The basic ingredient for splenda according to various studies lingers.
I don’t like unsweetened cranberry juice, so I substituted cranberry cocktail. I have made this with lots of different flavored vodkas and even beer! It is so good. I normally double the Splenda though or substitute 2 cups of brown sugar.
