Ingredients
- 1 orange, zested
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 container (8 large) store-bought buttermilk biscuit dough
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions
- Place zest, sugar and cinnamon in a paper bag and shake to combine.
- Place oil in a deep pan until it comes about halfway up the side of the pan. Heat oil to 350 degrees F.
- Slice biscuit dough in quarters and roll into balls to form 24 donut holes. Working in batches, place donut holes in hot oil and fry until golden, about 6 to 8 minutes. Transfer the hot donuts to the paper bag and shake to coat with orange sugar. Serve immediately.

These are really scrumptious. The Pillsbury dough tastes the same as the crescent rolls or the pizza dough or the biscuits…but I love the taste! And the orange sugar combo can’t be beat. Very taste shortcut, Sunny.

My Aunt who past away used to always make donuts for us. I was very happy to find an easy recipe and delicious like this one. The whole family loves it. My Grandma suggested powdered sugar to have two choices of donuts. They were delicious also! Thank you!

These tasted great and I love that it didn’t require a ton of ingredients. However, I did have trouble frying them as some of them didn’t cook all the way through but I think that was because I didn’t have a candy thermometer to make sure that the oil was at the correct temperature. But the ones that cooked properly tasted delicious! I used a ziplock back instead of a paper bag to coat them because a paper bag just didn’t seem sturdy enough to not leak sugar all over the place. Next time I will probably only make half of the sugar mixture since I had a ton leftover.
