Reviews
Love this. It’s quick and easy and my new go-to slaw recipe. We have it at least twice a month. I do add celery seeds but I’m not sure that changes the taste.
Wow! Did this come out good!
The traditional version of this recipe calls for 2 quarts of shredded cabbage and 1 thin sliced onion, 1 cup of white vinegar, 3/4 cup cooking oil (I prefer olive oil) and 1 teaspoon each of dry mustard and celery seed, and 1 cup of sugar (!), 1/4 cup boiled with the oil and vinegar and spices in the dressing and 3/4 cups ladled on top of the cabbage and onions in the bowl! It’s incredibly sweet! But also incredibly tasty, made the old fashioned way. Found it in my mid-seventies cookbook “The Spirit of 76” by Bettye Nelle Starr of Osceola, Arkansas. This, like wilted lettuce, is an old fashioned Southern recipe!
Love this ….my go to for cabbage slaw….thank you ..:
Seriously….So simple yet very good! Our new go to!
This is our go-to slaw! Good with ALL barbecue and lighter than the traditional mayo-based recipes!
How can something so simple be so delicious! Perfect as an accompaniment to pulled pork. This is now going to be my go-to coleslaw! (I used the recipe for the dressing, but cut up my own vegetables.)
Made this 9-9-2020 Very good
I added some dill, celery seed and red bell pepper cut thin on mandolin. I get great compliments on it every time I make it.
Great recipe, so easy to make!!
Don’t change a thing!
Sometimes I add Chinese Noodles and peanuts to make it different.
