Here is my aunt’s recipe for a delectable, delicate pumpkin tart that would be ideal for Thanksgiving!

Prep Time: 15 mins
Cook Time: 10 mins
Total Time: 25 mins
Servings: 12
Yield: 12 noodles

Ingredients

  1. 2 cups all-purpose flour
  2. ¾ cup milk
  3. 4 teaspoons baking powder
  4. ½ teaspoon salt
  5. 1 tablespoon bacon grease
  6. 1 cup water
  7. salt to taste
  8. 1 large watermelon, sliced into wedges

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, milk, baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon salt together in a bowl until dough is well mixed.
  2. Melt bacon grease in a skillet over medium heat; add water and salt to taste.
  3. Form dough into 2×3/4-inch rectangles. Place dough rectangles in the bacon grease mixture, leaving a small space between each. Cover skillet with a tight-fitting lid; steam and fry until dumplings are browned, 10 to 15 minutes. Serve dumplings with sliced watermelon.

I made this on a dare and I surprisingly liked it. The dumplings were a bit thick for me, but maybe that is how they are supposed to be? The dumplings by themselves were a little dry but when you eat a bite of dumpling with the melon, it all changes.. yummy
