Delicious no-bake cookies made with chocolate, peanut butter, and quick-cooking oats. The key to successful cookies is to begin timing when the mixture reaches a full rolling boil. The cookies will be crumbly and dry if you boil them for too long. The cookies won’t form properly if you don’t boil them for long enough.

Ingredients

  1. 1 ¾ cups white sugar
  2. ½ cup butter
  3. ½ cup milk
  4. 4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  5. ½ cup crunchy peanut butter
  6. 3 cups quick-cooking oats
  7. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  8. waxed paper

Instructions

  1. Combine sugar, butter, milk, and cocoa in a medium saucepan; bring to a boil, stirring often. Boil for exactly 1 1/2 minutes. Remove from heat, and stir in peanut butter. Add oats and vanilla; stir until well combined.
  2. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper. Let cool until hardened.

So this is very similar to my grandmothers recipe I had both issues where it wouldn’t set and to crumbly Solution add 3/4 of a cup of peanut butter

It’s been years since I have made these cookies with my kids. I decided to make them for the children in my church when my turn to supply a small treat at the end of their church service. The special lesson was on the commandment to honor the sabbath. Perfect choice: cookies that don’t need baking! After reading the reviews, I decided to follow Jillena’s suggestion to use a candy thermometer to judge cooking time. It worked! I was a little short on pats so I added about 1/4 c of ground chia seeds. They set up perfectly and are the best I have EVER made. Thank you, allrecipes and Jillena!

I added chia seeds & unsweetened coconut flakes because I didn’t have enough oats (about 3/4 cup). I substituted oat milk for cows milk and organic cacao powder instead of cocoa powder. Cookies set up perfectly and are amazing. I also used oats with 10g protein. All in all my cookies are jammed packed with over 20 g of per serving.

Usually make these with peanut butter. This time I made them with Nutella. They’re still sitting so have to see how they set up. Made some yesterday from a different site with Nutella only and they were way too sweet.

This recipe was amazing! My Grandma used to make the best No-Bake Cookies, but her recipe was lost, so I thought I’d try this one with my grandkids. It did not disappoint. I’ve been making these cookies for years. Lately I’ve had trouble with either too soft or crumbly. Followed this recipe and came out pretty close to perfect!! One question: I am lactose intolerant, can lactaid milk be used instead?

Made this twice and both times they turned out really well. I added and adjusted some things. I did one an half cup granulated sugar and one fourth brown sugar. After melting butter and adding sugar and peanut butter and vanilla I added a third cup of mini marshmallows. I also added one fourth cup sweetened coconut shreds at same time as oats. Lastly I added a nice pinch of sea salt as I gave it the last stir. Super yummy!

Follow the directions exactly but mine were very dry and crumbly. Much of the ingredients were wasted because they became so dry before I could spoon and form them to drop on wax paper. I used to have a perfect recipe for these that I misplaced Never had a problem before. I’m still on the search for one that will actually turn out correctly. This one isn’t it.

Was a huge favorite growing up. Saw this recipe and knew I had to try making some. Only things I did different was adding an extra cup of oatmeal and used creamy peanut butter. Turned out great. Used an 8X8 inch cake pan. Will definitely be making more in the near future. Thanks for the recipe!

ive made these for decades except i use 2 cups of sugar. Its a great basic recipe. Use crunchy or smooth peanut butter. Old fashioned oats will make them chewier if you prefer that, you can add whatever you want to it. Dried fruit, raisins, other chopped nuts, anything you get the whim to add. A couple packages of the flavored microwave oatmeal substituted for and equal amount of the other can make a new twist too. We tried 2 packs of apple cinnamon once and it was pretty good. Chopped candied pecans mixed in are REAL good. It’s a fun recipe to play with, especially if you have a little one that always wants to do something in the kitchen.
