Apple pie with rosemary and thyme? Just insane enough for that to work! The herbs really let the apples shine in this pie, which has a wonderful scent. Years of experimentation have produced a flaky, buttery, and delectable crust. The pie I bring to events is now the most frequently requested food item, and it is always quickly gobbled to many ‘oohs,’ ‘ahhs,’ and’mms.

Yield: | 1 1/2 pounds tilapia |
Ingredients
- 1 egg
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 1 ½ pounds tilapia fillets, cut into 2-inch pieces
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup seasoned bread crumbs
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Instructions
- Beat the egg and soy sauce together in a bowl.
- Gently press the tilapia pieces into the flour to coat; shake off the excess flour. Dip each flour-coated piece into the beaten egg mixture and then press into bread crumbs. Gently toss between your hands so any bread crumbs that haven’t stuck can fall away. Place the breaded tilapia onto a plate while breading the rest; do not stack.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the breaded tilapia in the vegetable oil until golden brown, about 5 minutes per side.
- The nutrition data for this recipe includes the full amount of the breading ingredients. The actual amount of the breading consumed will vary.

These were the best fried fish I’ve ever made! The breading stayed on, and had a good flavor. I used panko bread crumbs, because that’s what I had, and put some salt-free seasoning in them. The soy sauce has plenty of salt in it. I’ll use this same breading on other meats, and maybe try it on fried or baked tofu.
This was the best tilapia recipe I have had so far I loved it the only thing I added to it was a quarter cup of Parmesan cheese to the the breading
I actually hate fish but am trying to incorporate it into my diet. I tried this out and absolutely loved it! It wasn’t fishy at all, had a good flavor & texture. (I used more italian bread crumbs than it called for & used some sweet chili sauce on the side)
Turned out great. My husband said it was the best Tilapia I have ever fixed.
Very good! Loved the light crispness over the flaky flesh. I’ll try with panko and play with the seasoning next time.
Made it with haddock and it was exceptional. Only change made was using panko instead of breadcrumbs and adding a bit of shredded Parm cheese. One of my favorites!
I added some seasoning to the bread crumbs and sesame seed oil to the egg wash as per other users suggestions it was delicious and so easy
I may use 2 eggs next time
While this was nice and crispy, we both felt it lacked flavor, and we also felt as if it needed some kind of sauce.
I just added a couple of cloves of garlic to the sauce and used Panko bread crumbs. It was delicious.
Very tasty! I did not add Parmesan because I didn’t have any. I did think the soy taste was a little heavy.. overall, very good
I followed the recipe as written, and I was not disappointed! This turned into a very tasty meal…the best tilapia recipe my family says. Thanks, Nadine.
Absolutely amazing. Didn’t change a thing. My entire family loved this. This recipe will be a regular in our house!
Easy make. Family loved it. As always, I altered recipe a tad by adding Sauvignon Blanc to the beaten egg, soy sauce mixture. served with sauteed shrimp over brown rice and mixed veggies.
Absolutely delicious! My family loves it!! Thank you Nadine!
Very good!!! The only thing different that I did was bake it in the oven instead of on a stove top… Came out nice and very well flavored… Not salty or greasy… Definitely will make this one in the future!!!
Absolutely amazing!! So light and the taste is mouth watering!!!!
I don’t like fish all that much but my family loves it so I have been searching for a recipe that I can tolerate so I don’t have to make a separate dinner on fish nights. Well, this fish is delicious! I never thought I would say that but I honestly can’t wait to make it again. I fried the fish then put it straight onto a baking sheet and put them in the oven to finish cooking through. I cooked them low (about 200) for at least an hour if not more. they were perfect! I served it with the bacon fried rice recipe I got off this website. it was a hit! The kids asked if I could make it again tomorrow.
I used sesame seed oil with a little olive, and Italian bread crumbs….SO GREAT.. I also topped it with a little parmesan.. TWO THUMBS UP!! Will definitely be making again, even my 5 year old liked it!!
Came out so good! Thanks!
My whole family loved this quick and delicious recipe. It is definitely a keeper.
