Mrs. Baxton’s Long Island Iced Tea

  4.7 – 57 reviews  • Vodka Drinks Recipes

An old acquaintance of mine who swears by this recipe has been making it for years. It’s the greatest Long Island Iced Tea I’ve ever had, I have to admit.

Prep Time: 10 mins
Total Time: 10 mins
Servings: 1
Yield: 1 iced tea

Ingredients

  1. 1 fluid ounce vodka
  2. 1 fluid ounce gold tequila
  3. 1 fluid ounce rum
  4. 1 fluid ounce gin
  5. 1 fluid ounce Cointreau or triple sec
  6. 5 fluid ounces sweet and sour mix
  7. 2 fluid ounces cola
  8. 1 lime wedge

Instructions

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice; pour in vodka, tequila, rum, gin, Cointreau, and sweet and sour mix. Cover and shake until the outside of the shaker is frosty. Place a few cubes of ice into a highball glass, and strain in the iced tea. Top with the cola, and garnish with a wedge of lime.

I originally posted this recipe a few years ago and continue to make it regularly. Thanks for all the helpful reviews! I agree with some that top shelf liquors aren’t needed to make this recipe. Since posting I did find that adding some bitters (regular, orange or ginger) add a nice flavor.

My friends rave over this recipe it’s the best I’ve made!!

Delicious and refreshing…use caution, it’s potent.

Perfect recipe adjust sweet and sour to taste I recommend one ounce less. The sweet and sour will help control all the alcohols it’s a matter of taste this recipe is perfect. Thanx. I’m a mixologist FYI 31 years.

I made it and the gold tequila is way too over-powering, use silver or omit it from the recipe completely as tequila offers nothing to a LIIT. I made my own simple syrup with equal parts fresh squeezed lemon juice, lime juice, hot water, sugar (first disolved in the hot water and cooled) and only 3 ounces vs. 5. It should taste almost like a tea, not too tart or sweet, just smooth and dangerous! Delicious drink, one of my favorites and i’ve made just about every decent recipe I can find to try out new things. They never make them right at most local bars.

Very refreshing! Next time we will prob. use a little less sweet & sour mix-maybe 4 oz rather than 5. Other than that it was really good!

This is a great recipe. I took the sour mix down to three parts from five and it mellowed out a bit. Delicious. Five stars.

Put me in coach, I am ready to play!! perfect as is….a touch more Coke.

My husband loved this drink Best LIIT ever. I don’t like them at all. But these were the first one I liked , I did add extra Coke to mine. Ok, so I’m a wimp, but you cannot go wrong making these in a pitcher like a previous rated suggested.

Adjust sweet and sour.

Loved it, a little too sweet fire my taste, so I use 4 oz. Of sweet and sour mix, and a little more cola.

WOW! I asked the hubby to stop and get the liquors on his way home, forgetting that he chooses the cheapest $#!+ on the shelf! Well, the good news is that cheaper seems to be better from all that I’ve read and the even better news is that this ROCKS YOUR SOCKS OFF!!! Now we already had Cuervo Gold and Bacardi Rum but the gin, vodka and triple sec were the cheapest you can buy. And also, I did have some limeade on hand (from the beer margarita test) so I just squeezed one lemon to add to that and made 5 oz. WOW!!! Do yourself a favor and try this!! It’s soooooo good!!!

I found the sweet and sour to be overpowering.

Great recipe!! Sweet and sour gives me a belly ache so I use cranberry and ginger ale in place of coke- the ratios are perfect!

Best Long Island I have ever had.

The first time I tried it I didn’t have coke, so used bitters. Loved it! The second time I made it with coke. I liked the one with bitters the best.

Just whipped this up but didn’t have the cola…added 2oz of lemonade we had on hand in its place. Nice beverage…

I’ve been using this recipe for a while and it’s great. One thing I do is to use only 3 oz. of sweet and sour (Mrs. T’s) and 2 oz. of good lemonade (Paul Newman’s), and then just a splash of coke on the top. The bottled sweet and sour mixes are very strongly flavored (and usually taste a little artificial, even the good ones like Mrs. T’s), plus I like the lighter flavor of the lemonade. Yum yum…and a little dangerous.

Brought a large pan full into work and everyone scarfed them down. A Keeper recipe

Made this last night for my neighbor and myself as we watched the Columbus Blue Jackets beat the Pittsburgh Penguins. Whoa!! Made no changes to the recipes.
