The other night, I made this tzatziki with sour cream since I had a strong gyro need and was having trouble finding recipes that satisfied it. A creamier tzatziki was what I desired. I served it with shredded chicken, Cheddar, green leaf lettuce, a lot of tomatoes, and feta cheese on a tortilla. I was eating it by the spoonful because it was so amazing! As my measurements might not have been accurate, you can experiment by adding a bit extra mayo or sour cream.

Ingredients
- 1 large cucumber, peeled and cut into chunks
- 1 ½ cups plain Greek yogurt
- ½ cup sour cream
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Chop cucumber in a food processor until nearly liquefied; strain through cheesecloth to remove excess moisture, being careful not to over-drain and lose too much of the fresh flavor.

Wonderful. Definitely a favorite
Yum! I sprinkled in some
I just chopped the cucumbers and it was great
Delicious! Since I’m cooking for two these days, I cut the measurements in half, which was a very easy adjustment. We enjoyed this tzatziki sauce with the lamb souvlaki by Kim’s Cooking Now, also from this site. The only change that I made in the preparation was to use my box grater to grate the cucumber. I pressed out much of the moisture with paper towels before mixing in the other ingredients. This gave us tiny pieces of crisp cucumber in every bite. Thanks for this recipe, Molly! You’re right… It’s mouthwatering!
This is absolutely delicious! Not only was it good on the blackened chicken gyros I made, it made a great vegetable dip too.
This is the best tzatziki I’ve ever had. I’ve made it several times, as a topping for middle eastern food. it’s creamy and flavorful.
It’s really good! It sure makes alot, but it keeps well refrigerated.
This tzatziki sauce has a light, fresh taste and is as good or better than any I have had in Greek restaurants. I served it with Greek lemon chicken, mini potatoes and fresh green beans. It was definitely a hit with my family and I will recommend it to anyone and everyone!
This is a great base recipe and I am so grateful that it was posted because I didn’t have a clue as to how to get started. I gave it 4 stars just as it is. But I realize that tzatziki has many variations and I then attempted to replicate my favorite restaurant’s tzatziki using Molly’s recipe. I did as the recipe suggests and then just added some seasonings: 2 T fresh squeezed lemon juice, 2t dried dill weed, 1/4 t salt, 2 dashes black pepper, 1 to 1.5t Greek seasoning, 1/2 t onion powder, and 2-3 cloves of fresh garlic (minced). I am beyond thrilled with the outcome.
Lindsey: Thanks for the substitute suggestions. I used your version and it tasted great!
This was delicious. Only thing I would add to instructions is to take out the cucumber seeds. Just would make it smoother.
Came out thin, but tasted good. I still think it needs dill. But really easy to make.
Delicious! I did not have sour cream on hand, so left it out. Also added cucumber slices. Loved it. Thx.
Excellent recipe!!! Thank you very much for easy, delicious and genuinely Greek Tzatziki sauce recipe. I made a very similar recipe (just a couple of minor variations). I am very pleased with the results: https://www.akitchenadvisor.com/how-to-make-tzatziki-sauce/ Thank you again for a healthy and quick recipe of the popular Greek appetizer.
I’ve made this quite a few times. I add dill and some lemon. I usually add about half the mayo if any. Sometimes a little olive oil instead.
So I had some gyro flavored hotdogs and I needed a good tzatziki sauce. I’m glad I found this one. I did make some changes due to the fact that I didnt have Greek yogurt so no to that and added half a lemon a tbsp of olive oil & 3 garlic cloves. Delicious!
A solid tzatziki that is easy to make. Can be taken to the next level by adding a bit of dill, bit more garlic, ditching the mayo and adding olive oil and a bit of lemon juice. Will definitely make it again!
I used this as a base. I did not add mayo or sour cream. Because I did not have cheesecloth,I just dumped the whole thing in. It tasted pretty good to me.
I used low fat yogurt, it was great on many sandwiches
Yummy… I use this as a dip for the tofu meatballs. Awesome recipe.
I quartered the cucumber. Next time I will make them smaller.
