Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

  1. 10 cups combination of corn, rice, and wheat cereal squares
  2. 3/4 cup chocolate chips
  3. 3/4 cup chocolate hazelnut spread, such as Nutella
  4. 3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
  5. 1/3 cup butter
  6. 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  7. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  8. 3 cups powdered sugar
  9. 2 cups miniature pretzels
  10. 1 cup chocolate coated candies, such as M and M’s

Instructions

  1. Place the cereal in a very large stainless steel bowl and set aside.
  2. In a medium microwave-safe bowl, add the chocolate chips, hazelnut spread, peanut butter and butter. Microwave for a minute, then stir. Microwave 30 seconds longer and stir until smooth. Keep going until it’s all melted, being careful not to burn. Stir in the vanilla and salt. Then pour the chocolate mixture over the cereal, tossing to evenly coat.
  3. Spoon the mixture into a 2-gallon resealable ziptop bag along with the powdered sugar. Shake the bag until the cereal is evenly coated. Then add the pretzels and candies, seal and shake the bag again. Pour onto baking sheets to set/cool. Serve in bowls.

I made this for Christmas gifts. Was awesome! Biggest problem is its addicting!

This was oh so good! I halved the recipe, using 7 cups of cereal, 1/2 cup of the other items that were listed as 3/4 cups, and 3 TBL of butter. It is VERY good. Since I am not such a pretzel fan, next time I will omit them all together. The highlight of this snack is the cereal, so don’t go overboard on the other additions.

So good and this is slight different then the other PuppyChow and Reindeer Poop I’ve had. I broke the pretzels up so there would be a little salty in every bite and I used mini M&Ms so it wasn’t too sweet.

These might be the reason my pants are so tight! Very simple and addictive, the kids request it all the time!

I just made these after seeing them on The Pioneer Woman show and they are definitely worth making again! If you like Muddy Buddies/Puppy Chow, this is worth trying for a new spin on the original recipe. The Nutella adds a subtle new flavor, while the pretzels add that little bit of saltiness to really bring the whole recipe together. I halved the recipe, since I’m trying to manage portions and live on my own, and it still made a rather big bowl altogether… so I would say it serves way more than six, but this is just me. Otherwise, I didn’t make any changes and love the recipe just as it is!
