Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 sweet potatoes, peeled and cut lengthwise into 1/2-inch wide strips
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
- In a large bowl, mix together olive oil, paprika and cinnamon. Toss the potato strips into mixture, to coat well, and spread onto baking sheet in a single layer. Sprinkle with salt and brown sugar.
- Bake for 30 minutes, turning every 10 minutes.

Wow! Very tasty, indeed. The combination of the savoriness of the paprika with the deliciousness of the cinnamon along with the awesome combo of sweet and salty with the salt and brown sugar mixture was a winning ensemble of flavors. Make plenty because they will go fast! I cut up several smaller sweet potatoes and had an abundance of the olive oil mixture left over. Be sure not to cut them too thin because they get pretty soft in the oven. I started on 425 then lowered to 375. I increased the heat to 450 for the last two minutes. I only had to bake them for 20 minutes. Serve warm and immediately.
Yum – I loved these. I did not expect them to be crispy, as though from a deep fryer – and am glad they were not. They were golden brown, and perfectly soft … and I was skeptical about the paprika/cinnamon combination, but along with the salt, they were delicious. I left off the brown sugar altogether as I’m not big on sweets. I was looking for an easy recipe for sweet potato fries that was really good, and this was it.
This recipe is great! I took the advice of others and added the brown sugar towards the end of cooking. I also tried the fries before adding the sugar and they were already really good. Will definitely make again.
They were burnt. 🙁 I’m thinking it was just because of the brown sugar. Maybe next time (there will be a next I’ll wait until they’re almost finished to add the brown sugar.
This is a great recipe and very healthy. I have passed this on to several friends. I just tell them in the last minute or so, to turn the oven to broil. It is so easy.
Tried this recipe today and the taste of the fries was delicious but they were slightly burnt. Other than that it was pretty good.
Delicious, but not firm and crispy. Soggy.
I have made this recipe before, and I didin’t put the brown sugar and salt on till after I had baked them and they turned out delicious. This time I put the brown sugar and salt on before putting the fries in the oven and they were completetely burned after only twenty minutes. So if you decide to put the sugar on before baking you’ll need to adjust baking temperature/time.
My family did not like it, they said it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t good. I agree. But in the recipes defense, I may have not put enough oil so some parts burnt…
I turned up the oven temp as some people suggested but could not get the fries to get crispy. And even with turning them every 10 minutes, they still got burned. I agree the flavor is good, but they were basically inedible because of the texture and burning. I’ll try again with parboiling and using cooking spray instead of EVOO – or look for a different recipe.
