Rib-eye steaks become soft and somewhat sweet when marinated in brown sugar and Worcestershire sauce. For a little kick, I’ll occasionally add some red pepper flakes and Dijon mustard.

Ingredients
- 4 (1/2 pound) rib-eye steaks
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder, or to taste
- 1 teaspoon onion powder, or to taste
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 ¾ cups Worcestershire sauce
- ⅓ cup brown sugar
- Vegetable oil for brushing grill
Instructions
- Season steaks with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper; set aside.
- Place Worcestershire sauce and brown sugar into a large resealable plastic bag; seal the bag and shake to mix. Pour 1/2 of the marinade into another large resealable plastic bag. Place 2 steaks in each bag and turn to coat. Squeeze out excess air and seal the bags. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
- Preheat an outdoor grill for high heat and lightly oil the grate.
- Drain marinade from the bags into a small saucepan; bring to a boil and cook for 3 to 4 minutes. Set aside.
- Grill steaks on the preheated grill to desired doneness, about 7 minutes per side. Baste often with boiled marinade during the final 5 minutes of cook time. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center of steaks should read 140 degrees F (60 degrees C) for medium doneness.
Reviews
The marinade was just right! I topped the steaks with a gorgonzola sauce. The steaks were a hit!
Followed recipe exactly then cooked in the air fryer. Delicious
Love this recipe, the brown sugar makes it a bit sweet so after I cooked the steaks I had to add a little more salt to the steaks.
Was not a fan of the flavor. It was different but not good to me or husband.
SOOOOO GOOOD
Very tender and flavorful. My new go-to marinade.
We made this exactly and those were the best Rib Eyes that we have had in a long time! Will make again very soon! Thank you to whoever came up with this recipe! It’s a Winner!!!!!!!!!
This was pretty good. I added rosemary and minced garlic to it for a more exciting fresh taste.
FANTASTIC! I have been grilling steaks for decades, many different marinades or none at all. Great compliments from guests previously, but these are the BEST ribeyes I have ever cooked or tasted outside of a 5 star restaurant!!!
i loved this marinade, i reduced the brown sugar to about 1/4 a cup instead of a 3rd, and added about half a tablespoon of sriracha to add some heat. the sweetness to heat really did me in. pairing this with scalloped potatoes and sauteed veggies was a great meal.
This is one of the worst marinades I have used for meat. The Worcester is overpowering and the steak inedible when cooked. I had and extra piece of meat and did not want to waste it. I Threw away the marinade and soaked the meat in water.
I have used this recipe twice now for my steaks and my family just loves it. The marinade is great with beef.
We love this marinade. We use salt, pepper, garlic and onion powder. 1/4 brown sugar and it turns out perfect! Our go to marinade!
Thisnis a fantastic marinade! wow!
I tend to agree with those that found this just a tad too sweet. I’m thinking a little hot sauce (Sriracha?)
I didn’t make a change to the recipe itself. But instead of grilling I pan fried. Used butter of course. With the butter & not adding any marinade this was absolutely delicious. This is a keeper in this household.
I actually will make it again… I didn’t have all of the Worcestershire sauce required so I used beef broth to actually balance it out…. but it still came out tender and delicious. Also my fiancé could actually eat it. He takes his dentures out so that he can actually eat steak and normally when he does that he cant eat… but he could with these and he had a whole pound steak gone in like 5 minutes. Thanks for the great recipe.
Used dehydrated onions, halved the recipe because I had two steaks, pan fried them. Even with the changes, it was still fantastic! I will definitely remember this marinade for future rib steak dinners.
Loved it. Easy to make.
I did not care for this recipe. A little too much sweet.
This was so tender and flavorful. The best steak I’ve ever had hands down. We decreased the brown sugar a bit after reading the reviews and I think that was a wise choice. We will be making these again I’m sure. Even the kids loved this one.
