Lobster tails with a hint of beer, steaming. Excellent with garlic, lemon juice, and melted butter.

Ingredients

  1. 2 whole lobster tail
  2. ½ (12 fluid ounce) can beer

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, over medium to high heat, bring beer to a boil.
  2. If lobster tails are still in the shell, split the shell lengthwise first.
  3. Place a steamer basket on top of the saucepan; place thawed lobster tails in the basket and cover. Reduce heat and simmer for 8 minutes.

I made it in my Instapot set on saute in a steamer basket with a spacer under the basket.I did one saute cycle to heat the beer. I added diced garlic and crushed red peppers to the beer. I split the lobster tails and seasoned them with Old Bay. One more saute cycle and they are done perfectly. Serve with melted butter with lemon and your favorite side. I did corn and long grain rice. It was delicious and amazingly easy to make.

This was FANTASTIC! Husband purchased 6 lobster tails from Costco and I split that pack into two/3 tails each. For this recipe, used three of them, a 12oz can of local American brewed Lager and tsp of minced garlic. I then sprinkled the 3 lobsters with 1/4 tsp old bay prior to adding them to the pot. Steamed closer to 10 min (I might have turned my gas stove down too low!) and wow!! The beer/garlic flavor seeped into the lobster meat for a delicious flavor! It truly didn’t need butter! This was amazing. Who knew that lobster, beer and garlic would be such a wonderful combo! Thanks Kathleen!! Kudos!

I was making these for Valentine’s Day, but didn’t have a steamer basket at the condo my girlfriend and I rented. I wanted to do them on the grill, but it was pouring outside. Instead, I tried this method using only 1/4 can of brown ale, setting the tails directly in the pan, (which resulted in about half an inch deep in beer), then covered them with a lid. I cooked them until almost done, then brushed them with a little butter and Old Bay, then put them under the oven broiler for just a few minutes. It worked out great, and they were delicious!

I did not split the lobster, I had very small tails and knew they would cook quick. Turned out moist and very good! Will try next with additional seasonings in the beer. Again, good in its own, but can see where it would only add to this recipe.

I’m so thrilled to find such an easy recipe for cooking lobster tails! I’ve modified the steaming liquid by adding two teaspoons of garam masala and I’m using blue moon beer. I’m serving it with roasted baby potatoes, garlic, pearl onions, and broccoli pieces! I’ll post pictures etc! Yummm!

I used a small amount of white wine instead. Don’t have a steamer so I just put the lobster in the pot shell side down! I had two 4 ounce tails and steamed them covered, for about 7 minutes. They did curl up but I had cut them with kitchen shears and loosened the flesh before steaming. It was pretty easy to crack open the shell where I had cut it. Delicious! I was nervous because I had never cooked lobster before.

I always make my loser tails using this recipe. The flavor is perfect! I like the other reviews idea, about using a wooden skewer to keep the shell from curling up. I will definitely try that next time!

This was an ok recipe. The beer does give the meat some flavor but be careful what beer you use. Also, don’t go by the time stated to steam the tails. Mine took less time. Not sure I’d use this recipe again. The kids didn’t like the taste the beer left on the meat. If they are around next time I wouldn’t use the beer.
