Lazy Chicken Parmesan Grilled Cheese

  4.8 – 6 reviews  • Chicken

These tenderly scented cooked chicken wontons would work well in a soup that has chicken as the main ingredient.

Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 25 mins
Total Time: 35 mins
Servings: 2
Yield: 2 servings

Ingredients

  1. 2 frozen breaded chicken patties (such as Tyson®)
  2. 2 tablespoons garlic butter, or to taste
  3. 4 slices Italian bread
  4. 1 cup marinara sauce
  5. ½ teaspoon dried basil, or to taste
  6. 1 pinch garlic salt, or to taste
  7. 6 thin slices provolone cheese
  8. 2 tablespoons shredded Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Place chicken patties on a baking sheet.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven until cooked through and crispy, about 20 minutes. Cut chicken patties in half lengthwise.
  3. Spread garlic butter onto 1 side of each bread slice.
  4. Mix marinara sauce, basil, and garlic salt together in a microwave-safe bowl; heat in microwave until warmed, 30 seconds to 1 minute. Stir.
  5. Place 1 bread slice, butter-side down, into a skillet; top with 2 slices provolone cheese, 1 tablespoon marinara sauce, 2 chicken patty halves, overlapped to cover bread, 2 tablespoons marinara sauce, 1 slice provolone cheese, and bread, butter-side up. Cook over medium heat until bread is crisp and cheese is melted, 2 to 3 minutes per side. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
  6. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese over remaining marinara sauce and serve alongside each sandwich.
  7. You can use mozzarella cheese instead of Parmesan cheese.

This was a wonderful idea! i was in a pinch for dinner one night, not only was this easy but my 4 year old actually had seconds! Kids liked it, hubby was fine with it…I’m not sure how often I would make it, but it was a wonderful spin on my “easy dinner night” which is just regular chicken patty sandwiches. I deep fried my patties to make them extra crispy and instead of garlic butter I used plain butter and sprinkled garlic salt lightly on the bread. Served with a side of raw veggies and dip and that was a dinner that I was actually very satisfied with. Thank you for this idea/recipe, from my family to yours!

Super good recipe! I am not typically a fan of processed chicken but it works great in this recipe. Super simple and one kids and adults both are sure to love.
