Juicy Marinated Steaks

  4.3 – 115 reviews  • Rib-Eye Steak Recipes

Steaks that are tender and seasoned with a flavor that complements rather than overpowers the flavor of an excellent steak.

Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 10 mins
Additional Time: 3 hrs
Total Time: 3 hrs 20 mins
Servings: 4
Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  1. ¼ cup canola oil
  2. ¼ cup high-quality root beer
  3. 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  4. 2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
  5. 2 tablespoons steak sauce (such as Heinz 57®)
  6. 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  7. ½ teaspoon onion salt
  8. ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  9. ½ teaspoon dried basil
  10. ½ teaspoon ground thyme
  11. ½ teaspoon dried rosemary
  12. 4 (6 ounce) rib-eye steaks

Instructions

  1. Stir the canola oil, root beer, Worcestershire sauce, teriyaki sauce, steak sauce, garlic salt, onion salt, black pepper, basil, thyme, and rosemary together in a bowl.
  2. Pierce the steaks in several places on both sides; arrange in a single layer in a shallow non-reactive dish. Pour the marinade over the steaks, flipping the meat to coat both sides. Allow to marinate in refrigerator 3 to 4 hours, flipping meat once halfway through.
  3. Preheat an outdoor grill for medium-high heat, and lightly oil the grate.
  4. Remove the steaks from the marinade and shake off excess moisture; discard the remaining marinade.
  5. Cook the steaks until they are beginning to firm, and are hot and slightly pink in the center, 5 to 7 minutes per side. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read 140 degrees F (60 degrees C) for medium.
  6. The nutrition data for this recipe includes the full amount of the marinade ingredients. The actual amount of the marinade consumed will vary.

Giving this a five-star rating, becuse I love al of the ingredients, not because I have made it. Question: Can I broil this steak instead of grilling? In Florida, it’s 4 thousand degrees outside and 900% humidity…not good for the BBQ! If broiling, do I sear the steak first? How long under the broiler? Thanks, everyone for all the wonderful tips!

I eliminated the salt and used granulated garlic and onion powder instead of garlic salt and onion salt. There is plenty of salt in some of the other ingredients. Very tasty!!

I will definately make it again. Had some friends over to share and got nothing but compliments. And empty plates. That recipe is a keeper.

I did double the recipe…extremely flavorful and tender….I used it on New York strip steaks….I did not have the steak sauce so I omitted it…..excellent! Will use for any beef and I want to try it on pork chops…

These were the best steaks! The marinade was excellent. Everyone who loves steak should try this recipe.

This marinade was okay. I agree not to use on a quality meat. Too many ingredients to sweeten the meat. It is unnecessary when having a steak. Let the quality of the meat speak. I would use this on a sirloin for kabobs or another type of meat like chicken, but a good steak? No!
Laura Moore
It was good, but not outstanding. I doubt I’ll make it again. I was hoping for a more robust flavor.
Nancy Brown
Great marinade. The steak was so tender juicy and delicious.

I use heniz 57 and no mustard

I normally don’t care for marinated steak, but my husband loves them. So when I saw this recipe, I decided to give it a try. He won’t stop raving about it and pronounced he wants all his steaks that way in the future. I also enjoyed it very much. I did make a few changes to the recipe…we don’t have nor like steak sauce so I didn’t add that and I didn’t add pepper. Otherwise made the recipe the same for petite sirloins. Was outstanding!!!

My wife loves this and I love making it for her!

If I could give it ten stars I would. Amazing recipe! Didn’t change a thing

I made this exactly as stated using an eye of rib eye. It was delicious. DH loved it. Will be making this again and again.

Enjoyed the steak tremendously. I thought it might be spicy but it was perfect. Topped off the dinner with a root beer float!

This was an excellent marinade. The steaks were very tender and flavorful and the steaks we used were not the highest quality either. Will definitely do again. I didn’t have the rosemary, so omitted it.
