Ingredients

  1. 1 cup sugar
  2. 1 cup large tapioca pearls
  3. 6 jasmine tea (or jasmine and green tea) bags
  4. 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk

Instructions

  1. Combine the sugar and 1 cup water in a small pot. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Remove from the heat and set aside to cool.
  2. In a large pot over high heat, bring 8 cups water to a boil. Add the tapioca pearls, return the water to a boil and cook, stirring occasionally, for 15 minutes. Turn off the heat, cover and let the pearls sit another 15 minutes. Drain and rinse under cold water. Put into a container with the cooled simple syrup and refrigerate up to 2 days.
  3. Put 6 jasmine tea bags into a heat-proof container and pour over 4 cups boiling water. Let steep 20 minutes. Remove the bags and discard. Let the tea cool, and then refrigerate.
  4. When you are ready to serve, put 1/2 cup tapioca pearls into the bottom of a large glass. In a pitcher, combine the tea and sweetened condensed milk and stir until blended. Pour over the pearls and serve with an extra large straw.

I have made the brown sugar/caramel bubble tea! It was nice!

Alright base recipe, but you should make the boba according to the packaging instructions. Add brown sugar to the water for boiling so you don’t have tasteless boba. Use brown sugar for the simple syrup for brown sugar boba. Once you make it, the boba can’t be cold for too long or the texture will get chalky and not chewy

This is Food Network right, I’m not on like Bob’s Random Food website.com? 😉    So where’s your Tapioca Pearl recipe, you cannot use the store bought stuff, it SUCKS.

Needs more sugar, I added some extra simple syrup. Jasmin green tea is excellent for this recipe, next time want to try with Earl Grey. And what a great idea with a little splash of vodka! Fun! :-
I recommend following Sandras recipe for cooking the tapioca. I presoaked it as the instructions on my packaging called for, and what a mushy mess!
Thanks for another fun recipe Sandra, will make it again! :-

It’s good. I like sweet tea and thought this would be sweet enough as I’ve had bubble tea before. To my taste it needs to be sweeter. I had to make a few changes as my store didn’t carry jasmine tea nor did they have large tapioca pearls. They only had instant tapioca pearls and I let them sit in the hot water too long before draining, what a mess. I used green tea bags. I”m making thiis one again, using regular tea bags and making it sweet tea prior to adding the condensed milk. I’ve double the water – from 4 cups to 8 cups – to make the tea, but I’ve only added 10 (not 12) tea bags for the second batch. I have a lot of sweet tapioca and condensed milk left over. It should turn out pretty good.

On this morning show she added vodka, hmmm, after the grandchild goes to sleep I’ll add a little kick to my bubble tea too!
