Yield: | 12 sandwiches |
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup spicy mustard
- 3 to 4 tablespoons poppy seeds
- 3 tablespoons grated onion
- 1 tablespoon horseradish mayonnaise
- Dash of Worcestershire
- 12 soft hamburger buns, sliced in half
- 1 pound thinly shaved roast beef
- 8 ounces sliced provolone
- 8 ounces American cheese
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Mix together the mayo, mustard, poppy seeds, grated onion, horseradish mayo and Worcestershire. Taste the dressing and adjust the ingredients however you wish.
- To assemble, spread the dressing on the top and bottom buns. On the bottom bun, lay on some provolone, roast beef and American cheese, and place the top bun on top. Repeat with the next sandwich.
- Wrap each sandwich in a foil square, and either bake right away or keep in the fridge. To bake right away, put them on a baking sheet in the oven until the buns are slightly crusty and the cheese is melted, 15 to 20 minutes. Great for a crowd!

Delicious! We skipped the sesame seeds in the sauce, used brioche rolls and went primo for the roast beef (Dietz & Watson London Broil Roast Beef) but did everything else as directed. What a crowd pleaser! Definitely making again perhaps in slider form for a gathering.
Easy and tasty dinner. My son ate his sans sauce, and I’d recommend serving it on the side for picky eaters. They don’t know what they are missing though- I could eat cardboard with this sauce on it! As others have pointed out, the recipe on her website calls for only 1 T of poppyseeds and 1 T of mustard. I was happy with those ratios.
I did not add the sauce. My kids and hubby are picky as crap. I cooked for 20 then turned oven off for 10 mins and left them in the off while it was off. The breads was just the right amount of crunchy i did add the sauce to mine after and it was very good. Highly recommened for quick meal.
Can these go on the grill? How to do it? Oven space is slim when I have a crowd.
Outstanding. I made roast beef paninis in stead of sandwiches. The onions on it were perfect. Sauce was delicious… all good. A winner
I made these the other day for mine and my husband’s lunch. They were great.
Haven’t made yet but wondering, if making right away so you still wrap each sandwich in foil?
BEWARE: TYPOs in the recipe! The ratios are wrong. Spicy mustard and poppy seeds should be only 1 tablespoon each. Hopefully, they fix it soon. Once fixed, it’s delicious!
Excellent quick and delicious summer meal!
They look so good can’t wait to try this! I LOVE your show
