Ingredients
- 2 medium onions, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, diced
- 1 pound boneless pork loin roast
- 1 tablespoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 (12 ounce) bottle BBQ sauce
- ½ cup honey
Instructions
- Place onions into the bottom of a slow cooker and scatter garlic over top. Set pot roast in the cooker and season with pepper and salt. Pour BBQ sauce over pot roast, making sure roast, onions, and garlic are completely covered. Drizzle honey over roast only.
- Cover and cook until meat is easily shredded with 2 forks, on Low for about 12 hours or High for about 6 hours.
- If your roast is frozen, be sure to defrost it first. The size of the pork roast doesn’t matter. If it’s bigger than 1 pound, add more BBQ sauce to make sure everything is covered.
- Any BBQ sauce will work. You can use 3 tablespoons garlic powder instead of fresh garlic.

Loved this recipe smells great and was delicious but I only cooked on high for 4 hours and it was perfectly cooked. My roast pork was a bit more than 1.5 LBS.
This was delicious. I strained the fat from the pork after 4 hours and then put clear chicken broth back in the crockpot. I added sweet and smokey bbq sauce instead of honey bbq and it gave it a really nice flavor. Forgot to add the salsa but don’t think you need it. We served it with yellow rice and a side of homemade salsa of chopped tomatoes, red onion and avocado. Also served with chopped lettuce, shredded cheese and sour cream.
Cooked for 8 hrs. On low and meat came out dry. I would add about 1/4 cup water next time.
This was fun to make and delicious to eat. I’d monitor its progress; it didn’t take as long as the recipe indicated. And we ended up with a lot of “jus” because the meat sweated a lot.
This came out delicious!! No changes necessary!! My whole family loved it, on some good brioche rolls with some coleslaw on it. My father-in-law said it was the best he’s ever had!
Made using Idaho potatoes instead of sweet potatoes and cut thick as another rater had suggested. Pork turned out very tender. Flavor was a little off though. Potatoes also turned out a little too sweet and tasted just like the pork. Too much sweet. I will try it again and use a different BBQ sauce and maybe cook the potatoes separately, or add the sauce at a later time. Will probably turn out better next time with a different BBQ sauce.
