The Golden State Warriors’ choice to forgo store-bought sports drinks in favor of creating their own using Himalayan sea salt motivated me to experiment with a less-sweet version of mine. This recipe can be modified to produce your ideal concoction.
Servings: | 9 |
Yield: | 9 cups |
Ingredients
- 8 cups fresh cold water, divided
- 3 tablespoons honey
- ½ teaspoon fine Himalayan pink salt
- ¾ teaspoon calcium magnesium powder (Optional)
- 1 pinch cayenne pepper
- ¾ cup freshly squeezed orange juice, strained
- 2 medium lemons, juiced
- 2 medium limes, juiced
Instructions
- Pour 1 cup of the water into a large pot. Add honey, salt, calcium magnesium powder, and cayenne. Place pot over low heat and whisk until ingredients have dissolved. Remove from heat and allow to return to room temperature.
- Add juices to room temperature mixture in pot. Pour in remaining 7 cups water and whisk until well blended.
- This pink salt is not the pink salt used to cure meats.
Reviews
well I tried this, and this was amazing, it tasted like flavoured dog slobber. Certified Bussin’ !
I made it but I don’t know how it’ll work. I’ll get a chance to try it tomorrow when I play tennis.
Good. We like ours with a bit more fruit juice and a little simple syrup added. (I know, defeats the purspose but I have a crew of many I need to please). It is still plenty healthy but more palatable for everyone. Way less sugar than other drinks they would generally prefer. Awesome recipie, Chef John.
It was okay, but it was missing something. Great job through.
Wow. This is perfect just like it is! Thanks!
This was awesome! I will come back to this!!
