Our favorite restaurant’s grilled artichokes served there served as my inspiration for developing this recipe. My hubby considers mine to be superior. If you’d rather, top with mayonnaise rather than butter.

Ingredients
- ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ¼ teaspoon dried basil
- ¼ teaspoon dried thyme
- ½ teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¼ cup white wine
- 2 lemon wedges
- 4 artichokes, halved and choke scraped out
- olive oil-flavored cooking spray
- ¼ cup butter, melted
Instructions
- Fill a stockpot to half full with water. Stir Italian seasoning, basil, thyme, liquid smoke, olive oil, salt, and white wine into water. Squeeze the lemon wedges over the mixture and drop the wedge into the pot. Bring mixture to a boil over medium heat; add the artichoke halves and continue to boil until tender, 20 to 30 minutes. Remove artichokes from water and drain upside down on paper towel; allow to cool to the touch. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
- Preheat an outdoor grill for high heat and lightly oil grate.
- Lightly coat the cooled artichoke halves with cooking spray. Cook artichoke halves on grill until edges are slightly charred. Drizzle with melted butter to serve.

Incredible! Best artichokes I’ve ever had!
Good Good Good. I have had better but this was really good. The flavor or the wine and spices are lost and not tasted. Still the Artichoke is well cooked and very tender. I think a good butter sauce for dipping can save this recipe
delicious! I made without the wine and liquid smoke, brushed with lemon/butter before grilling. Made an aoli with lemon and garlic for dipping. Best artichokes I have ever had.
They took a little time becasue of boiling them first, but they were worth it. Jeff loved them.
Delicious. I loved them!!!! I followed it pretty closely but I didn’t use the liquid smoke and instead of using a grill I broiled them and turned them every few minutes. I also put butter on top while I was broiling them. Oh, and I didn’t remove the chokes because that was the best part.
Ahhhmazing. I made a dip with mayo, sour cream, lemon, s&p, chili sauce and garlic (aioli dip) to serve with it and was great.

made this last night and it was excellent! Cut the chokes in half after the fridge, and choked them, then grilled. Served with a garlic mayonaise instead of butter and they were the best artichokes I’ve ever had.

Easy to make and lots of flavor. Very good even without the liquid smoke!
I boiled the artichokes whole, then cut them in half and removed the choke (I think it’s easier that way). Also, we just dip the leaves in butter or mayonnaise when we eat them. Any way you do it, these are the best artichokes you will ever taste!
