I created this recipe because I wanted to create a tasty, sweet popcorn that was healthful and low in sugar. It’s a favorite of my kids’! If you don’t have coconut oil, olive oil will work. You should add a bit more honey if you mistakenly added too much salt. Add a little more salt if it’s too sweet. Start with a small amount of cinnamon and gradually increase it to the desired flavor.

- 3 tablespoons coconut oil
- ¾ cup popcorn kernels
- 2 tablespoons honey, or more to taste

I thought this recipe was really good. Next time I will just cook the popcorn in vegetable oil. Cooking in the olive oil just took long. Otherwise, I would recommend if you love the sweeter types of popcorn.
This is a great idea. I used agave instead of honey. What a fun treat!
Delicious! Nice sweet and salty combination and a good change from regular popcorn. I used Ceylon cinnamon which has a nicer flavor than regular cinnamon and touts many health benefits. Please do not pop for 5 minutes or your popcorn will burn. It only takes a minute or two once you add the popcorn after the three kernel pop. Just listen closely for the popping to slow as the directions state. I used the two tablespoons honey and the popcorn was slightly sticky so have a wet napkin nearby to wipe your fingers.
This is a family favorite, we make it all the time and my husband who doesn’t like sweets can’t get enough of it! Thank you for sharing a healthy snack with us moms who need more ideas to keep our families healthy and happy.
OMGOSH – This is Soooooo Goooood !!! I usually just use Avacado Oil from Trader Joes but I was out so I looked for a recipe using Coconut Oil and by chance found this one – I have never made a Sweet Popped Corn – It was AMAZING – My daughter warmed up some vegan butter and there was the salt !!! I will definitely make it again…
As I’ve been trying to lose weight for several months now, I’m constantly looking for various healthy snacks. Definitely one of my favourites. Thank you for this fantastic recipe!
This is amazing. Quick, easy and delicious, it reminds me of kettle corn but better! I warmed my honey so that it coated better. I definitely ended up with far too much popcorn. Will cut the portions next time.
Most delicious popcorn ever! This tastes like kettle corn but better. It is super fast and easy, too. We go a little heavy on the cinnamon – thank you for a wonderful recipe!
really easy and fun
We halved it and it fit great in the pan we usually use for popcorn. The kids loved it!
I make this without the oil in the microwave. About 3 tablespoons plain popcorn for about 1 1/2 minute makes a medium bowl. I just use the cheap paper sandwich bags you can get at the dollar store. I just kind of drizzle honey over it, add the cinnamon, shake it up and it is delicious and nutritious
Simple and delicious. Thanks for the great idea. I find that popcorn turns out more tender if you put the kernels in along with the oil and heat them together.
This was a great way to satisfy a sweet craving!!
There is an error my recipe. It does not take 5 minutes for the rest of the popcorn to pop once it is added to the pot. It only takes a minute or so. 5 minutes would severely burn the popcorn. Also make sure you do not stop shaking the pot back and forth once the rest of the popcorn is added. Even stopping for 5 seconds is enough to burn the popcorn on the bottom.
Great for a healthy snack. But if you are expecting Caramel Corn, this is not it.
