Ingredients

  1. 3 ripe bananas
  2. 2 cups rolled oats
  3. 1 cup dates, pitted and chopped
  4. ⅓ cup vegetable oil
  5. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a large bowl, mash the bananas. Stir in oats, dates, oil, and vanilla. Mix well, and allow to sit for 15 minutes. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
  3. Bake for 20 minutes in the preheated oven, or until lightly brown.

I have just finished my 1st batch (& eaten 2 ) & I think my version of the recipe turned out DELICIOUS !!! Because my bananas were small & slightly over-ripe I used 4 bananas, & because I wasn’t particularly looking for “healthy” in my cookie I added a 1/2 c. of brown sugar along with a couple of tsp.s of cinnamon. Now I have to slap my hand & mouth to keep from gobbling them all up today !!! (of course, at 80 yrs old who cares if I gain a couple more pounds ?!!)

Very good. Edit: I’ve been using this recipe for several years now and I feel like I need to make a more proper review than,”Very good.” These are great texture wise and the baking time is on point. I always use applesauce in place of the oil (although I omit it if I’m using frozen bananas) and usually a mixture of slightly plumped raisins and chocolate chips. I highly recommend adding cinnamon and chocolate chips (even just a few scattered on top) because the chocolate enhances/ compliments the banana flavor so much. I get nothing but compliments from little kids to the elderly and everyone in between on these.

I used parchment paper under the cookies and added the cinnamon and nutmeg recommended by other reviewers. Delicious! Like little bites of banana bread without the flour or sugar

I always make the recipe exactly as is the first time, then tweak it to my linking the *next* time., if needed. So, I gave this recipe 5 stars because it is a really good basic recipe that worked. It’s a good base that I can play with based on available ingredients. Thank you for sharing.

Delicious! As others did, in addition to the ingredients in the recipe, I used (homemade) apple sauce instead of oil, added shredded coconut, 1 diced granny smith apple, homemade cranberry sauce (because why not?), cinnamon, nutmeg, and cardamom, raw cranberries. In addition, I ground 1 cup of rolled oats and added to the 2 cups of regular rolled oats. They were still warm when I ate two in a row. Chewy on the inside, and crispy around the edges. YUM! Hard to believe there is absolutely no cane sugar or flour in these, and so filled with flavor! Thanks for the recipe!

My boys and I love these. I made a couple of changes though. I use dried cherries instead of dates, I add a cup of chopped walnuts, and a half cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips. Soft and chewy and so yummy!

Absolutely love these cookies! The easiest and best tasting with only five ingredients. I switch out the dates for raisins sometimes. I’ve also added chopped walnuts without changing anything else in the recipe and have the cookies come out wonderfully. Best cookies ever!

I made this cookie recipe and added the following: one egg, 1/4 cup coconut flour, 1/3 cup unsweetened shredded coconut and cinnamon to taste. I never tried the original recipe so I cannot compare. These cookies are not for everyone but I like them. Great way to use up ripe bananas. Will make again!

Delicious healthy cookie. It’s not filled with crazy sugar but with natural sugar. I’m a nursing mom, so added 2 tbsp each of brewers yeast and flax seed meal. Added 3 cardamom pods in additional to vanilla extract. Used 1/5 coconut oil and 3 tbsp sun butter. Came out so good. I have some by my bedside for late night craving.

Finally a healthy snack for me. I used peanut butter instead of oil but definitely could use more vanilla & cinnamon. I will have to play with it. And I can’t wait to change up the fruit. I used apples and bananas in my first batch.

I loved these!!! I was out of vanilla extract so I decided to put three spoonfuls of blueberry jam to make the batter a little more sweet I added some corn syrup. It was delicious.

Let’s start with they are a healthier alternative to a plain cookie. I substituted cherries for dates. I added extra oatmeal, cinnamon, and dark chocolate chunks. I also sprinkled them with a little turbinado sugar before I popped them in the oven. It’s a great way to use up ripe bananas. Kind of an alternative to a granola bar. Keep in mind that at some point if you add too many things you take the healthy right out of them. I didn’t think they needed the chocolate. I will definitely make them again.

Didn’t have dried fruit so I ended up adding about an 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup oats, 1/3 cup of pecans, and about a 3/4 cup of keto chocolate chips. It was delicious! It did have a gummy texture. Not sure if it was just mine. But over all still good. I’d say let them cool completely so that it’s not so gummy. My 5 year old didn’t like it but my 10 year old did! She said it reminded her of banana bread lol

Stuck with everything but added cinnamon, almonds and chia seeds and switched the dates to cranberries. This is kid approved and diabetic friendly. Enough sweet to last me until my next meal.
