Cooking this pudding simply made a mess and the pudding itself became lumpy. I only cooked for the first 3 minutes and it got overcooked. I’m assuming it’s because my microwave is too powerful, but the recipe itself lacks information on the cooking process.
Tastes great! Add some fresh fruit and that will balance it out
This is the second time I make this pudding. It is so easy to make and deliciously chocolate. My kids and friends all loved it. I did not use the microwave, instead cooked it on the stove. Thank you!
This recipe delivers what it promises: quick dessert that you don’t need a stove top to make. Following this recipe to the letter, you will get a 3 or 4 star result for taste and texture. For silkier texture, mix in 1 or 2 tablespoons of butter. For a more intense chocolaty taste, stir in a small handful of Ghiradelli bittersweet chocolate chips.
How could this recipe not be a 5? I, a mediocre cook (giving myself the benefit of the doubt) have made it at least 4 times now and it has always, without any stress, performed & turned out exactly as described. One time I added bananas as suggested. Fine. One time I forgot the vanilla extract. Fine. This is not the greatest chocolate pudding In the world, but in terms of delivering on promise (time involved, ease of handling, taste) this recipe can not be topped. (And talking about topped, you can do that too, with a little cream poured over.)
I’ve made this off and on for years. Very good. Very easy. Good warm or cold.
Really good recipe, made it with no cooking experience, and I used cornflour instead of cornstarch and I don’t think it made a difference
Complete flop. Made a mess and disappointed me.
Super easy to make. I cut the sugar in half to make it more dark chocolate flavor and it did just that. Yum! And so creamy! (I also used oatmilk) Thank you for a pudding that is delicious and easy make. Best part is I know what’s in it. 5 star.
Beyond disappointing. Followed the recipe exactly and ended up with a big mess and nothing to show for it.
Out of habit I added 1/2 T butter when adding vanilla. This adds richness that was missing.
Loved this awesome and easy recipe! I’ve made it about 10 times. I use oat milk and get perfect results. Thank you!
No changes. Quite honestly, anything from Allrecipes always turns out perfect! This is my go to chocolate pudding!
It came out really good as far as consistency and chocolate flavor. It was very sweet to me so I may cut the sugar back a bit next time. I did add about a teaspoon and a half of butter when I stirred in the vanilla because I have with all other puddings I make.
It was great! I didn’t have any cocoa powder but it tasted amazing with hot chocolate mix (plain) and no sugar!
I added some instant coffee crystals to make it mocha flavored, after the vanilla was mixed in. I should have measured it. I think I put a tablespoon in. It should have been maybe a teaspoon. I also added in about a tablespoon of unsalted butter for a bit of a smoother texture.
Keep your eye on it while it’s in the microwave because it will explode
Fantastic easy dessert! Just used regular hersheys cocoa powder but if making for a special occasion will probably use my fancy Dutch cocoa. Doubled the recipe for 8 servings, microwaving the 1st time for 3.5 minutes, then 2 more 1.5 minutes intervals, stirring for a good minute or 2 in-between. Might add a pich of salt next time as some have suggested.
This was an easy and delicious recipe. I used flour instead of cornstarch because I can’t tolerate corn, but it still turned out great. I used it for a chocolate creme pie and it held up beautifully.
I like that the recipe was easy to make with simple ingredients. I really like the Jello brand Cook and Serve Chocolate pudding, so my standard for this was high. I found that this pudding was too sweet, and it was too chocolatey. I know this sounds silly, but I even lessened the amount of Hershey’s Cocoa powder to a bit over 1/4 cup, and it was still too much. It was creamy. I am a baker, and I didn’t mind making homemade pudding, but this just didn’t cut it for me. Oh well.
This the same recipe I’ve been using and sharing. Everyone loves it My daughter doubles the recipe it’s that good. I usually make it 2 times a week because it helps me get my meds down I’ll never make a different chocolate pudding.
