Thank you Kardea it was so easy and tasty my kids couldn’t have enough and specially helpful since I’m a working Mom.
The BEST beans!! I make it just as it says, except I love multicolored bell peppers, so I mix about a cup of red, yellow, orange, and green, cook with the onion in just a spray of olive oil. I have used different combinations of beans to use up what I had on hand, and once I was out of tomato sauce and had to use crushed tomatoes, but I don’t mess with Kardea’s sauce. The seasonings work together so, so well, very tasty, with a kick. I guess you could use less cayenne if you were making for sensitive tastebuds.
I have been using and loving this recipe and knew it was pretty healthy, but today I entered the recipe into the WW app, and it’s only 3 points per serving and you get a + point for using a cup of non starchy vegetables! Score!! I had to comment when I saw this, think of it, all this taste, and NO guilt!!
Thank you Kardea!!

Thank you Kardea!!
Best bean dish I have ever made. It was a huge hit at a potluck and is requested by my family often. I followed the recipe as posted and didn’t change a thing. It was very and quick.
These were so good and easy. Made them on the stove top and added in sliced jalapeno for some heat.
Absolutely the best beans I have ever had!
Comfort food perfection! As others did I made this on the stovetop using a 12″ well-seasoned cast iron skillet. It worked just fine, so do not hesitate to try this method. However, I substituted white wine vinegar, because I had some already opened. But other than that I followed the recipe exactly. As suggested I added my own choice of meat to the dish, in this case 4 Nathan’s hot dogs (again, something I already had and needed to use) cut up into small chunks of roughly 3/4″ each. Shredded chicken and cut-up pork chops or mild Italian sausage (already cooked, of course) would also work extremely well in this dish.
I, too, made them on the stovetop. The best!
I made these on the stovetop, like another reviewer, and they came out great.
The family loved these! It will be a weekly dish.
Delicious! Made them on the stove top, came out great!
