Green Bean Casserole with Frozen Green Beans

  5.0 – 2 reviews  • Green Bean Casserole Recipes

When I cook this modified version of the traditional green bean casserole with frozen beans, I almost always get rave reviews. The Swiss cheese that has been added is the recipe’s secret. It is one of my go-to dishes throughout the year or during the holidays. It’s a genuine comfort dish in my opinion.

Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 45 mins
Total Time: 55 mins
Servings: 8

Ingredients

  1. 1 (16 ounce) package frozen cut green beans, thawed
  2. 1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  3. ½ cup milk, or more to taste
  4. ½ cup sour cream
  5. ½ cup shredded Swiss cheese
  6. 1 (2.8 ounce) package French-fried onions, divided
  7. 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  8. 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  9. ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Mix green beans, condensed soup, 1/2 cup milk, sour cream, Swiss cheese, 1/2 of the French-fried onions, garlic salt, soy sauce, and pepper together in a large casserole dish.
  3. Bake, covered, for 30 minutes adding a little more milk halfway through the cooking time if a creamier consistency is desired.
  4. Remove from the oven and add remaining onions to the top. Bake, uncovered, until bubbly, about 15 more minutes.
  5. You can use French-cut green beans instead of regular, but if you do, reduce the bake time by 15 minutes.
