Wonderfully yummy! Almonds, raisins, and honey in granola bars. These are a wonderful snack!

Ingredients
- 2 cups quick cooking oats
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup packed brown sugar
- ¾ cup raisins
- ½ cup wheat germ
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ cup chopped English walnuts
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- ½ cup honey
- 1 egg
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with aluminum foil or parchment paper, and spray with vegetable oil spray.
- In a large bowl, stir together oats, flour, brown sugar, raisins, wheat germ, salt, cinnamon, and walnuts. In a smaller bowl, thoroughly blend oil, honey, egg, and vanilla; pour into the flour mixture, and mix by hand until the liquid is evenly distributed. Press evenly into the prepared baking pan.
- Bake 25 to 30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the edges are golden. Cool completely in pan before turning out onto a cutting board and cutting into bars.

I have made this recipe multiple times and it is easy, and straight forward but I never make this the same way twice. Sometimes I will add flax seed meal, chia seeds, slivered almonds, pecans or/and pumpkin seeds just for fun. Enjoy
Finally a recipe that sticks together and tastes wonderful. I did add a few of my own ingredients such as pepitas and apple pie cinnamon.
This the second iteration! My clients loved it so I decided to change it up just a bit. I added a tad more cinnamon, sprinkle of mace, used golden raisins in place of the regular raisins and used unsalted, whole mixed nuts. I pounded the nuts just a bit; curb aggression, you know. Anyway, my little tweaks made for a very tasty bar!
i made these, I used pecans because they were in the cupboard and a little bit of molasses, so good ! thank you! will take them on the boat every morning, and their better that store bought.
Mine turned out super crunchy and hard. Maybe a baker error.
This is a great recipe! I made changes out of necessity – left out wheat germ (had none), subbed in pecans for walnuts, cashew butter for oil (that was just because) then added 2 Tbsp orange infused olive oil plus one more egg. Came out delicious! Even my husband likes them
I like these bars and will make them again. The only change I made was to replace 1/2 the oil with natural peanut butter. They were easy to mix and I think you could substitute other nuts or fruit for the walnuts & raisins. Because I don’t like a lot of sugar I will cut back the brown sugar to 1/2 cup. I cut mine into 16 pieces and the calorie count was 230.
Too much sugar. Honey and sugar not necessary. Would have liked more of a granola bar consistancy.

Beautiful granola bars, I don’t like raisins or walnuts and my brother doesn’t either so I substituted them for chocolate chips!!
I’m trying to do healthier holiday baking this year. These granola bars achieved that goal. I did make a few changes. To make them gluten free, I used oat flour (just put oats in the blender until a fine powder) and flax seed meal instead of the wheat germ. To make them fit a holiday theme, I used craisins and pepitas instead of raisins and walnuts.
Have made this more than once. Also made a sugar restricted version with Splenda for a relative and turned out just as great!
I didn’t have enough honey on hand, so I sub’d in half honey and half Agave Syrup and it worked well. They turned out great, I would definitely make it again! (I’m going to try next time with dried cherries instead of raisins just because my family enjoys them!)

I have made these more times than I can count! I omit the wheat germ and add dried fruit, sunflower seeds and peanut butter chips in it’s place. They come out perfect every time! Quick tip…. I use parchment paper on the pan for super easy removal!
3.24.18 At 25 minutes, my bars were a little dry. In the future, I’ll start checking at 20 minutes. Flavor is plenty good!
Don’t overcook it and grease your pan heavily with foil as it was difficult to get out.
This is a great recipe. I made it exactly as written, and it is delicious. I think in the future I will try reducing the amount of brown sugar, as it is very sweet as written. Texture and chewiness is great, though.
Pretty darn perfect. Going to try substituting applesauce for the oil. I subbed ground flaxseed for the wheat germ.
I have made this my regular granola bar recipe, keeping a constant stash in the freezer for quick snack or breakfast. The recipe is so versatile! I didn’t have wheat germ so I used sunflower seeds instead. I have used maple syrup instead of honey for my baby who was too young for honey. I use whatever fillings I am in the mood of, including a nut-free version for my kids to take to school. Thanks for a very useful recipe!
it was super delicious and i made it for my family and they loved it! i substituted coconut oil for vegetable oil ,and also added crasins, dried apples, and dried blueberries . i also did not add as much brown sugar! i loved it
