it’s great!

I made this exactly as written, no variations. It tastes exactly the sweet & sour sauce at my favorite Chinese restaurant. I have saved the recipe and will definitely make this many times again. I have looked everywhere for this sauce to make at home and I am so happy to have finally found it.

So easy & fast great on everything. Tastes just like a restaurant made it.

I did cut back on the marachino cherry juice and subst. ketchup for color…this was by far the best sweet and sour recipe I’ve found so far. Thank you!

I would omit the cherry juice altogether. I had to dump it out and start over because I couldn’t get it to not taste like cherries.

With Yellow fruit punch and cranberry juice (what I had) it was exceptional, will do it again with those juice, didn’t taste totally like sweet and sour sauce but was more unique I really just try it!! With eggrolls was perfect

not exact same taste this way but I used apple cider vinegar for this and it came out soooo good!

I really like this recipe. I added a little Sriracha sauce and pineapple bits and cherry bits. It is superb!

Just a shout out to the two “most helpful” reviewers. I actually hate the ketchup based sauces and was offering an alternative. There are plenty of ketchup based asian sauces on Allrecipes, if you like your sweet and sour to taste of ketchup, feel free to use them. The whole point of this recipe however, was to provide a lighter, thinner, fruitier alternative to the ketchup based sauces. Thanks for the feedback though. Sparklers

I have used this for years. I now find myself with enough time to rate it. Summer of 2020 has me at home and I do love this sauce, so I wanted to give my review of it. I love it with stir fry and it makes a tasty additive with spaghetti added.

For me I added a few drops of red color, and extra white vinegar. I also used crushed pineapple for teture.

I made this but I think it is far too sweet. Next time I did not add the cherry juice but replaced with more pineapple juice and added pineapple chunks. I also used apple cider vinegar instead of white. It turned out much better and tasted more like it should.

I added some pineapple chunks. The family loved it. Yes I would make it again and again.

ALTER THE RECIPE AND THEN ITS WORTH 5 STARS. CUT THE VINEGAR IN HALF AND IT’LL BE PERFECT.

yes I will make it again very good very easy

Not very tasty, it didn’t have enough flavour. The pineapple juice made it cloudy which I didn’t like. I also made it with the suggestions from the reviews, I added 1/4 cup ketchup and 1/4 cup cherry juice not 1/2 but it still tasted bad….not what I was looking for in a cherry sauce
Ethan Peterson
My family loved it. The ketchup really helped cut down that maraschino cherry flavor that my mom detests. My brother and I love the flavor of maraschino cherry so it didn’t matter to us.

Excellent basic sauce and quick t make

I made no changes so my review is based on THIS recipe (no my variation). It’s spot on. My suggestion is if the cherry is too much for you, drop it back a couple Tablespoons until you reach what works for you. But this is Chinese restaurant spot on.
