Fiery Red Salsa

Add as much jalapeno pepper as you’d like to this tomato salsa to make it your own. It’s quick and simple to do with a blender.

Servings: 12
Yield: 3 cups

Ingredients

  1. 2 large garlic cloves
  2. 1 (14.5 ounce) can whole tomatoes, drained
  3. 1 medium white onion, quartered
  4. ½ cup fresh cilantro leaves
  5. 1 jalapeno, stemmed and quartered (or more to taste)
  6. ½ teaspoon natural cane sugar, or to taste
  7. Kosher salt, to taste
  8. 1 tablespoon lime juice
  9. 1 (14.5 ounce) can whole tomatoes, drained

Instructions

  1. Place first eight ingredients in Oster® Versa® Performance Blender in order listed. Add remaining can of tomatoes.
  2. Select programmed DIP/SALSA setting.

Fiery Red Salsa Haiku: “Oh yea, fiery! I mean, I like spicy food, but this? Pass the milk!” I halved the recipe and used one medium jalapeno, and maybe I just happened upon a freakishly-spicy pepper, b/c this salsa was crazy hot. That’s not to say that we didn’t like it, b/c I’m a sucker for an easy blender salsa w/ the perfect ingredients as this one has. Maybe a little more lime juice, a little less jalapeno next time for me. 🙂
