Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, one of my favorite films, served as inspiration for this recipe.

Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 5 mins
Total Time: 15 mins
Servings: 2
Yield: 2 servings

Ingredients

  1. 3 cups hot water
  2. 2 tablespoons Italian red wine, or more to taste
  3. 2 tablespoons white sugar
  4. ¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  5. ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  6. ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
  7. 4 fresh spearmint leaves
  8. 1 leaf fresh mint leaf
  9. ½ apple, cubed

Instructions

  1. Combine water, red wine, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, spearmint leaves, and mint leaf in a saucepan; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and add apple to mixture. Simmer tea until apple breaks easily with a fork, about 5 minutes. Remove apple using a slotted spoon or strainer and pour tea into a mug.
