Yield: 4 to 6 servings

Ingredients

  1. 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  2. 1/3 cup sour cream
  3. 1 1/2 teaspoons honey
  4. Kosher salt
  5. 3/4 pound pizza dough
  6. 1/2 cup baking soda
  7. 1 large egg
  8. Kosher salt

Instructions

  1. For the creamy mustard dip: Stir together the mustard, sour cream and honey. Season with salt. Transfer to a small serving bowl and refrigerate until ready to serve.
  2. For the pretzel bites: Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Line a tray with paper towels.
  3. Bring 3 quarts water to a boil in a large pot. Divide the pizza dough into four pieces and roll each piece into a rope about 3/4-inch in diameter. Cut each rope into approximately 1-inch long segments.
  4. When the water comes to a boil, add the baking soda and stir to combine. Add half of the dough to the water and boil for about 45 seconds. Transfer the boiled dough to the paper towels. Repeat with the remaining dough. Lightly pat the dough with a paper towel to dab off some of the foamy water.
  5. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Beat the egg with 1 1/2 tablespoons water in a small bowl.
  6. Dip each dough bite into the egg wash, letting the excess drip off, then place it on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch of space between each. Sprinkle the tops of the bites lightly with salt and bake until deep golden brown all over, 13 to 15 minutes.
  7. Serve warm with the creamy mustard dip.

Delicious! Bought one pound pizza dough from Walmart. Made half. It made quite a few for hubby and my evening snack. Will definitely make again for friends. It was easy and quick. A keeper recipe.

I made these yesterday for an Oktoberfest party. I baked them on parchment paper like instructed and the pretzel bites got stuck to the paper. The ones I did taste were very good. I will make again using a silpat instead.

These were so fun to make! Very good taste and the sauce is yummy, too! I didn’t listen when Trisha said to pour the baking soda into the pot slowly so I had a huge overflow and mess to clean up . . . Can’t wait to make again!

I made mine in the the shape of sticks but followed everything else and they turned out delish. The kids loved them too!

Yum!!!! I only  spicy beer mustard, so used it instead of the Dijon. Delicious and easy. Good use of my extra ball of homemade pizza dough.

Has anyone made these and froze them?  I was thinking of freezing them after the boiling stage and then bake them when I want to use them.

Delicious and so easy! Next time I’ll brush with butter and do half with cinnamon and sugar as another reviewer recommended.
