Easy Air-Fried Chicken Breast

This sandwich was a go-to when I was growing up in Pittsburgh. This is as close to the original as it gets for anyone who was raised in this area and remembers Islay’s. Serve on hard rolls of your choice or hamburger buns.

Total Time: 28 mins

Yield: 1 chicken breast

Ingredients

  1. 1 (8 ounce) chicken breast
  2. 2 teaspoons olive oil
  3. salt to taste
  4. freshly ground black pepper to taste
  5. garlic powder to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat an air fryer to 360 degrees F (182 degrees C).
  2. Brush both sides of the chicken breast with olive oil and season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder on one side. Set chicken breast, seasoned side down, into the air fryer basket and sprinkle the other side with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  3. Air-fry for 9 minutes, flip, and cook until chicken breast is no longer pink in the center and the juices run clear, 9 more minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).
  4. Transfer chicken breast onto a plate and loosely cover with foil. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

I liked the recipe and tasted fine but it was so chewy. I think I got and old Rooster.

This recipe is so quick and easy. I seasoned the chicken breast on both sides and then lightly pounded it so that it would be an even thickness which reduced the baking time by a couple of minutes. The chicken breast was delicious and moist.
