Easy way to butter.. Take a slice of bread and spread butter (heavy) and then roll the ear of corn around on the buttered bread. This is a PERFECT way to fix and butter corn.
I cannot believe how easy this way of cooking corn on the cob was! The cooking time was perfect, there was almost no silk left on the corn after squeezing and clean up was a breeze! I do not like cooking with the microwave as a general rule but this will be my go-to procedure from now on!
Wet the corn and put in a bag with water…to steam.. I leave the husks and on when I microwave and the husks and silk remove so easily. Enjoy!
I have a 1100 watt microwave and 3.5 minutes was exactly the right time to cook my ear! I only did one at a time, but it worked well!
I have made this in the past but forgot how I did it. And this method works so well, for easy, easy husk and silk off. And great texture and taste to the corn.
Best corn EVER!
This technique worked perfectly! Husband says it is the best corn on the cob he has ever had, and thinks I am a genius—I am not going to disabuse him of that notion. 😉 Thank you for this pro tip, Chef John!
I did two large ears for 2 minutes while I was taking plates, etc. to the garden for dinner this hot evening. So they sat in there for a few extra minutes but didn’t “feel” done when I returned. I didn’t have the instructions in front of me. I added 2 more minutes. And was still setting things up so they sat a little longer. I’m not clear on how to do the shucking. They did not “slide” out the stalk end as described. So I peeled back the leaves and silk. Although hard on the fingers from the warmth, the silk came right off! A. I didn’t have the recipe in front of me. B. They were great!!
Tastes great. Followed recipe exactly.
I DID NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES,IT WAS SIMPLE AND DELISH,,YES THIS IS THE ONLY I WILL EVER MAKE IT AGAIN
This is the easiest, fastest, cleanest no brainer way to cook corn on the cob. I would have never thought to cook it in the microwave but it turns out perfect every time. It is amazing that this method for removing the husk and silk is so simple. The whole family thought it was the best corn on the cob they have ever had. It comes out juicy and sweet. I’ll never do corn on the cob any other way. Thanks Chef John!
This was a first for me. I’ve microwaved corn on the cob before, husked and wrapped in wax paper and was skeptical about trying this recipe. It worked like a charm! I microwaved 2 cobs for 5 minutes and 55 seconds. Perfect! No more messy housing cons for this gal ever again!
For those of us who love fresh corn on the cob, but dread the husking and boiling required just to have one or 2 ears, this is such a great approach. Simple, quick and no mess. Thank you Chef John! You’ve done it again!
So easy it’s like magic! However 3:15 was plenty for an 1100 watt microwave, and take the knife and slice a little down the side after taking it out of the microwave, then the corn slides right out easily !
Followed recipe as written and will definitely make again
I will definitely make it again!
So happy to have found this recipe to make our 4th of July corn onthe cob.
Still some silk strands. But seems to wok well I think I will get faster result in larger microwave.
Thank you Chef John! Great technique for de-silking corn. I’ll never husk corn again. This technique really does work.
I love the technique. Now I cut off both ends before cooking.
Turned out perfect …great for hot days
