Drunken Berries

  5.0 – 1 reviews  • Liqueur Dessert Recipes

With “Athenian sauce,” seasoned fish with a Greek flair is pan-fried. Any fish species may be used. The fact that the fish and sauce are cooked separately is essential to this dish’s success. Over rice or spaghetti, serve.

  2. ½ cup water
  3. ¼ cup pear liqueur
  4. 1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled
  5. 1 pint blueberries
  6. 1 pint fresh blackberries

Instructions

  1. Combine sugar with water in a saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture comes to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes; remove from heat and let stand 5 more minutes.
  2. Stir pear liqueur into the syrup and refrigerate for 1 hour.
  3. Gently combine strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries in a large bowl and pour syrup over the berries to coat. Allow berries to stand for about 3 hours to absorb flavors. Mixture can stand up to 3 days if desired.

This made a wonderful addition to a Saturday morning pre-booze cruise brunch! Our liquor store doesn’t carry pear liquor, so I had to call an audible and subbed pineapple vodka. Served in a champagne flute, these drunken berries were quite a hit for soon to be drunken guests. THANKS for the recipe, angela!
