Door County Cherry Bounce

  5.0 – 2 reviews

Making your own cherry-infused liquor dessert cocktail is a lot of fun. The real “star” of this recipe is the tart cherry. Eat responsibly because the cherries get very strong after a few months. Serve the booze over ice and dilute with Sierra Mist® or Sprite®.

Yield: 1 quart

Ingredients

  1. 2 cups pitted tart cherries (such as Door County cherries)
  2. ⅓ cup white sugar, or to taste
  3. 1 cup vodka, or as needed

Instructions

  1. Put cherries in a clean, 1-quart glass jar; add sugar. Fill the rest of the jar with vodka. Place lid on jar and shake.
  2. Store jar in a cool, dark area for 1 to 4 months, shaking jar occasionally.
  3. Cherries will float in beginning and will settle in time.
  4. Use any liquor (rum, brandy, etc.) in place of the vodka, if desired.
  5. This is usually made in August and traditionally served with Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner.
  6. Liquor-soaked cherries are also very good over vanilla ice cream for a fun adult dessert.

Great! I let this sit four months. Next time I would add more sugar. and maybe some spices.
