Yield: | 8 taquitos |
Ingredients
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- 2 cups shredded rotisserie chicken
- 1 cup shredded mild white Cheddar cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 cup chunky prepared salsa, plus more for serving, optional
- Eight 6-inch flour tortillas
- 1/2 cup sour cream, for serving, optional
Instructions
- Add enough oil to a heavy bottom straight-sided pan to come 2 inches up the sides. Heat over medium heat to 350 degrees F on a deep-fry thermometer.
- Meanwhile, mix together the chicken, Cheddar, 1/2 cup salsa and the cumin in a medium bowl. Spoon about a 1/4 cup of the mixture into the center of each tortilla. Roll the tortillas tightly around the filling and secure with a toothpick.
- Working in batches of 2 or 3 at a time, place the taquitos in the hot oil and fry, flipping as needed to brown evenly, until crispy and golden brown, about 3 minutes. Using tongs, remove the taquitos to a paper-towel lined plate to drain. Continue with the remaining taquitos. Serve alongside salsa and sour cream for dipping, if desired.

Reviews
It was easy to make and my teenage nephew loved them. He is a taquitos eating fiend. Win win. I didnt have the rotisserie chicken. I used a store bought preseasoned, shredded chicken and added the cumin. It had enough juice to bind the cheese with it. Definitely make again! Great job
Should be a corn tortilla, no? I consider this a flauta.
So simple! I made these without cheese and had to use pasta sauce, still came out amazing! Next time will try to make them tighter but the flavor is great. Will try them with salmon next.
Don’t trust an Italian to make taquitos. This recipe is sad American food. Pathetic.
AMAZING and so simple. My family devoured them. I also made some for a neighbors family and they loved them!! A must try
Easy recipe with a delicious outcome. These are so good! Made these last night using leftover chicken, and they were a hit with my three very picky eaters. My husband, who is not a picky eater, had to make himself stop.
