I made this tonight and we loved it. Less one star because I might have added too much salt on the Halibut I was cooking, but I also added 2 tablespoons of butter which made it a bit creamier. Great recipe though!!
BUT….I omitted the salt, used half n half instead of heavy whipping cream, added some fresh herbs, garlic, butter, bone broth, & used cornstarch instead of flour to thicken. DELICIOUS!!!! You can switch this sauce up by using different herbs & also adding freshly grated parm or asiago!
I didn’t use as much salt BECAUSE I put cilantro and anchovies in the sauce, hit it with the boat motor and wow. Goes good on fish or chicken….. breakfast cereal…. Just joking on the cereal …anchovies are in Ceasers salad dressing also
Holy salt! OMG don’t do it! I kinda thought it was too much salt, so I reduced it a tad…still WAYYYYY too salty..I quickly doubled up on the cream, flour and parsley….didn’t seem to need any more wine..and it was STILL too salty… lesson learned….if I ever make it again I will salt my plate if needed!!!
Followed the recipe exactly. Came out Great! First time I’ve tried it, will definitely make again. Not too salty, not too much wine flavor. Family loved it.
I had high hopes but someone else pointed out that it was very salty and I have to agree. It was also too much flour because it thickened up quickly before the alcohol from the wine even cooked off. I wound up trying to fix it with some chicken broth, a spritz of lemon juice and topped with shredded Asiago, dumped over rice and broccoli, it wasn’t as salty.
Great recipe, Very simple to make and Delicious! Starr D
I found the same recipe years ago and loved it and can’t believe it’s been years since I made it again. I followed the recipe and don’t have any complaints. I feel this is best used to add a layer of flavorful and not as the main focus of the dish. I love it over baked chicken cordon bleu. I’ve also used it on cheese and chicken ravioli. It’s fairly potent so use it sparingly at first. If you want more you can always add more.
Too much wine! Not flavorful at all.
It was kinda plain. Added, a pinch of oregano, parsley, basil, white pepper, a little garlic and a tbl spoon of butter. Better flavor I think imho
I added garlic & onion powder for extra tatse.
Made it as-is. Tasted like wine and fat.
I added minced garlic and oh my!!
Quick and easy. Little salty. Will make again with less salt.
An easy to make and yet delicious recipe.
Very good. Added a bit of lemon juice but otherwise made as is!!
Tastes exactly like the center of an undercooked loaf of bread. I’m not sure if I make it wrong or if it’s just not my taste.
One note and winey as written. Reduce wine to 1/3 to 1/2. Add TBL butter. Use a heavy hand with seasonings (double or triple the herbs) and add garlic powder and (white) pepper.
It had little to no taste. Had to add a lot of seasoning to even taste it. Will not make again.
Really simple recipe for white sauce. I added some prawns and served over spaghetti and the family loved it. Marked as s favourite!
Perfect foundation! I added a stick of butter, garlic salt and a little dried rosemary and oh wow! Sooo tasty!! We put it over cheese tortellini with grilled chicken and broccoli. Entire family loved it! This will have to become a regular dinner.
