Cornflake Burgers

a cornflake-coated beef patty that has been crisp-fried to a golden brown color. My daughter eats hers like a conventional burger, sandwiched in between a bun with all the fixings, whilst I prefer to eat mine with a little steak sauce on the side.

Total Time: 20 mins
Servings: 3
Yield: 3 burgers

Ingredients

  1. 2 eggs
  2. 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  3. 1 ½ cups crushed cornflakes, or more as needed
  4. 1 pound ground beef
  5. ¼ cup diced onion
  6. salt and ground black pepper to taste
  7. ¼ cup oil

Instructions

  1. Beat eggs in 2 separate small bowls. Place flour and crushed cornflakes into 2 shallow bowls.
  2. Mix 1 beaten egg, ground beef, onion, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Form into 3 equal-sized patties.
  3. Dip each beef patty into flour, followed by beaten egg. Coat completely with crushed cornflakes.
  4. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook burgers for 5 minutes, flip, and continue cooking to your desired degree of doneness, about 4 minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 160 degrees F (70 degrees C).
