Cookies ‘n Cream Cake

Instead of using jalapenos, this salsa recipe calls for canned green chiles. I’ll continue using it because it tastes so good!

Prep Time: 30 mins
Cook Time: 35 mins
Additional Time: 20 mins
Total Time: 1 hr 25 mins
Servings: 12
Yield: 1 to 9 inch layer cake

Ingredients

  1. 1 (18.25 ounce) package white cake mix
  2. 1 ¼ cups water
  3. ⅓ cup vegetable oil
  4. 3 egg whites
  5. 1 cup chocolate sandwich cookie crumbs
  6. 3 cups confectioners’ sugar
  7. ¾ cup shortening
  8. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  9. 2 egg whites
  10. 12 chocolate sandwich cookies

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour two 9 inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the cake mix, water, oil, and 3 egg whites with an electric mixer on high speed for 2 minutes. Gently stir in crushed cookies. Pour batter into the prepared pans.
  3. Bake for 25 to 35 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a knife inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes in pans. Remove from pans, and completely cool on racks.
  4. To Make Frosting: In a small bowl, thoroughly blend the 1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar, shortening, vanilla, and 2 egg whites. Beat in remaining confectioners’ sugar until creamy. Frost the cake, and garnish with remaining cookies.

I used yellow cake mix instead of white(the only one I found in the store.) It was delicious!!!!

I made this cake for my daughter and her boyfriends’ birthdays (they share the same birthday)! I made the cake as directed, but tweaked the frosting a bit (added more powdered sugar and a bit of milk). Overall, everyone enjoyed it. The Oreo cookies in the cake didn’t really shine through. Maybe leave them more chunky next time??

WOWSA. It’s a winner. We thought this was sweet and a treat. I added crushed cookies to the top instead of whole ones.

Made this today for a graduation party. Excellent & everyone enjoyed it. I made the cake and frosting exactly as written except used about 2 cups of crumbled cookies. The frosting was amazing and actually I couldn’t stop dipping oreos in it and eating them. It was very thick and I was afraid of the sweetness so I decided to add mostly all of it between the cake layers only and added another layer of cookies. Then I used a better crocker whipped choc frosting for the top and sides. I felt like it needed that chocolate aspect and I feel like the choc frosting really set it off. Would totally make it again. Might try using choc cake instead next time.

I cook for our Wednesday night dinners at church, and made a triple batch of this cake as one of the desserts. I did add the yolks to the cake mix (instead of just the egg whites). And I used the White Cake Frosting (doubled the recipe) which was recommended by another cook. It received RAVE reviews!! And I It will be added to the rotation to make again!

It was easy to make although my mix was a smaller sized box. I followed the box directions for the cake mix until it was time to add the cookie crumbs.

This was really sweet. Good if you like sweet cake and Oreos. Probably will not make again.

I made this for a family dinner one Sunday when I didn’t feel like spending a lot of time baking. I was concerned this frosting might be a bit too sweet for our taste so I did use my own recipe for that. The cake itself was moist, fluffy, easy and all gone.

This is pretty decent. I had high hopes for the frosting since several reviewers said it tasted like Oreo Creme. It doesn’t. It’s good though.

Everyone loved it!! I used about half a package of Oreos for the cake and a third of the package for the frosting (more then what is listed), plus I used storebought white frosting. If you like Oreos or cookies and cream anything, then you’ll love this cake!

There were 4 birthday cakes at my granddaughters birthday party and this cake is the one that not only the kids but the adults wanted. I changed the recipe a bit by using 2 whole eggs, 1 1/2 cups Oreo cookie crumbs and a chocolate fudge cake mix instead of a white cake mix. It was absolutely delicious!

Followed all instructions to the letter, and cake was crumbly. The icing was a fine consistency, but had a bad aftertaste.
