For an extra-special treat that also fills the house with a wonderful aroma, these baked apples are packed with cranberries and covered in a glaze made of honey and brown sugar.

Ingredients

  1. 8 ounces dry bow-tie pasta
  2. 12 ounces sweet Italian sausage, cut into 3/4-inch pieces
  3. 1 ½ cups thinly sliced onion
  4. 1 ½ cups thinly sliced red bell pepper
  5. 1 ½ cups thinly sliced green bell pepper
  6. 1 ½ cups thinly sliced yellow bell pepper
  7. 2 (15 ounce) cans CONTADINA® Tomato Sauce
  8. ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  9. ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta according to package directions; drain.
  2. Meanwhile, cook sausage and onion in large non-stick skillet until sausage is lightly browned. Drain if needed. Add peppers; cook 2 minutes, stirring frequently.
  3. Add tomato sauce and oregano. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in pasta and toss with Parmesan cheese.

This is a very tasty dish but not anything extraordinary, which is why I gave 4 stars here. I used smoked turkey sausage and Hunt’s garlic and herb tomato sauce.

Very good! My only changes was adding minced garlic with the onion, and using spaghetti sauce instead of tomato sauce. One full box of pasta and a full jar of spaghetti sauce are the proper amounts. If you like a little spice, use hot sausage or add some red pepper flakes.
