This is the fastest barbecue sauce I think anyone could make. It turns out well uses a few ingredients that you most likely have already. I think the only thing that would change the taste of this would be the steak sauce that you choose. I happen to have a Japanese hot steak sauce. The only thing I added was some honey when it was all done. It is a very savory sauce and the addition of some honey did not make it overly sweet but balanced it out. We put this on ribs and they’ve came out a beautiful mahogany color.

Loved this recipe the first time in its original recipe form. Since then I have added because it’s such a great base. I have added chipotles and dried cherries and then immersion blend them into the sauce.

I don’t know how many times I have made this in the last 3 or 4 months but a lot! I made a WW friendly version by using diet cola and Reduced Sugar Ketchup. I prefer the flavor of Mesquite Liquid Smoke over Hickory and added maybe 1/2 t. Brown Spicy Mustard. It is only 1 pt. for 1/4 cup! DELISH!!

This recipe is easy to make and I had all the ingredients on hand.  I made the recipe as written and used it on pork ribs and it was delicious.  I’ll make this again & again.  jkmotherhen

I’ve made many a bar b que sauce, most are much more complicated with lots of engredients. We couldn’t believe how good this sauce is. I can see how you could change the flavor for different applications. I could see adding some sugar or jam or fruit juice. This is my new go to sauce

This was a great base bbq sauce!!! I doubled this recipe for a big upcoming Memorial Day pork shoulder. I added another teaspoon of liquid smoke, and a teaspoon of this wonderful dried pepper mixture (it has habaneros, jalapenos, black and white pepper, and some other great peppers, 3 good splashes of Jack Daniels, and a big fresh sprig of rosemary. (Of note – make sure to take out the rosemary as soon as it comes to a boil…it def has the potential of over powering the sauce. It is delicious!! I am hoping everyone loves it on Monday!!!
