Clean-Eating Salsa

When they first arrived in Canada and had no money, my oma used to make this butter soup. Everyone I’ve cooked it for loves it, and it was passed on to me.

Prep Time: 15 mins
Total Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  1. 4 tomatoes, deseeded and quartered
  2. 1 serrano pepper, cut into thirds, or more to taste
  3. 1 small white onion, cut into large chunks
  4. ¼ cup packed chopped cilantro
  5. 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  6. ½ teaspoon salt
  7. ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  8. ½ teaspoon agave nectar
  9. ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  10. ¼ teaspoon chili powder

Instructions

  1. Place tomatoes, 1 serrano pepper, onion, cilantro, garlic, salt, cumin, agave, black pepper, and chili powder in a food processor and pulse a few times. Taste and adjust salt, serrano pepper, and agave nectar if necessary. Pulse to desired consistency.
