Ingredients
- 1 (6 ounce) package orange flavored Jell-O® mix
- 2 cups boiling water
- 1 cup cold water
- 1 cup orange juice
- 1 (15 ounce) can red grapefruit, drained
- 1 (11 ounce) can mandarin oranges, drained
- 1 (8 ounce) container frozen non-dairy whipped topping, thawed
- 1 (8 ounce) jar mayonnaise
Instructions
- Dissolve orange gelatin in boiling water in a large bowl, stirring for about 3 minutes; mix cold water and orange juice into gelatin. Pour gelatin mixture into a glass serving dish. Stir red grapefruit and mandarin oranges into mixture and refrigerate until set, about 4 hours.
- Whisk topping and mayonnaise in a bowl until smoothly combined; serve gelatin salad with a spoonful of dressing over each portion.

I made this for Christmas 2021. Instead of a dollop of dressing, I covered it with the dressing and put green sugar sprinkles on top. This is NOT the Jello Salad your great grandma made!
12-02-15~ Wonderful salad! The one change I made to this recipe was to use the mandarin orange juice in place of the cold water. Figured there was no sense wasting the juice. It turned out perfect and we all loved the taste of the two fruits included in the dish. We are big fans of gelatin dishes, so I know we will be having this one again.
This is very similar to a dish my mom would make a lot for holidays. She would use pineapple instead of grapefruit and top with marshmallows and cheddar cheese. I really liked this version with grapefruit!
