When you want a little something different than normal in the morning, this cinnamon bread is a nice option.

Prep Time: 20 mins
Cook Time: 50 mins
Total Time: 1 hr 10 mins
Servings: 12
Yield: 1 9×5-inch loaf

Ingredients

  1. 2 cups all-purpose flour
  2. 1 cup white sugar
  3. 1 cup buttermilk
  4. 2 large eggs
  5. ¼ cup vegetable oil
  6. 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  7. 2 teaspoons baking powder
  8. 1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
  9. 1 teaspoon salt
  10. ½ teaspoon baking soda
  11. 2 tablespoons white sugar
  12. 2 teaspoons margarine
  13. 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Make bread: Beat flour, sugar, buttermilk, eggs, oil, vanilla, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, and baking soda in a large mixing bowl until well combined, about 3 minutes. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan; smooth the top.
  3. Make topping: Stir together sugar, margarine, and cinnamon in a small bowl until crumbly; sprinkle over batter. Use a paring knife to swirl batter for a marbled effect.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 50 minutes. Remove bread from the pan to a wire rack to cool completely.
  5. If you don’t have buttermilk, you may substitute it with milk plus 1 tablespoon vinegar to measure 1 cup.

So easy to throw together, I haven’t eaten it yet its still cooling. It took closer to 60:00 mins to cook

Haven’t had a bite yet but the batter was delicious! I know, not supposed to do it but have been since I was a kid and I’m 79 now. I did add raisins.

I didn’t have buttermilk. Used ½ cup of sour cream and ½ cup of milk as substitute. It works great.

it was delicious… I did not have buttermilk, so I used whole milk and lemon instead of vinegar to make the buttermilk. Then I added 1/2 c of raisins. It came out so good… I shared it with a couple of my friends and my husband ate about half of it! he’s wants another loaf this morning…I give it at least two thumbs up! I am probably going to make some kind of butter cream topping to go on top of the bread just for a little bit of difference from yesterday’s loaf. I will probably double or triple the topping recipe and add it when I pour it in the loaf pan about halfway and swirl and then add more batter and then swirl again and then put some on top. The first loaf didn’t have enough of the topping towards the bottom of the loaf. Everyone loved the crunchy cinnamon topping but they wished it had more of it.

Definitely would make 2 loaves of bread mine ran all over the pan under my bread pan what a mess. Great flavor

This bread was delicious! I followed it exactly, baked it in a glass loaf pan for 50 minutes, and it came out perfect. I poured 3/4 cup of whole milk, added the tablespoon of vinegar then topped it with milk to make it a full cup. I stirred the vinegar in the milk and let it set for 5 minutes, then poured it in the mix, the consistency was like buttermilk. I made homemade cream cheese frosting with pecans, spread it on top, yummy! I highly recommend this recipe!

Easy and tasty bread.

This was a huge hit! I split the batter into two 8×4 tins and both loaves were gone by the following morning! I used parchment paper for one and greased the other, and neither of them stuck, so I think either one would be fine. My family LOVES cinnamon so I added a lot more than was called for. I would definitely mix the wet and dry ingredients separately. Other comments mentioned doubling the topping and putting half in the center and half on top. I forgot about it until it was in the oven, but I don’t think it mattered all that much. I didn’t measure the amount of butter, cinnamon, and sugar I put in, but it came out fine. I also used brown sugar for the topping instead of white. All together it’s a very easy recipe with a delicious result. I will be making this again soon! By the way, I am 13!

I made it using pumpkin spice seasoning because somehow I used up all my cinnamon! The bread is okay. I would use more salt and oil next time to give it a little more flavor and moisture. If you feel that your bread was too dry, just put it in an air tight container with a slice of sandwich bread overnight.

OMG this recipe is the best I have ever tasted My family and I absolute loved it and could not resist to eat more! it was more of a cake than bread but still it was great the crust was crispy, and the cake/bread was so soft I would recommend instead of buttermilk instead just use 3/4 cups of plain yogurt then just add 1/4 cup of milk in replacement of buttermilk. overall, this is something I’ll make again!

I love this recipe, so did my family it’s easy to make for all ages (with help of an adult for young children). It was delicious I added a Nutella swirl to it and it was amazing I recommend trying this recipe. I don’t have buttermilk so I used regular milk at it turned out perfectly fine!

It’s a wonderful recipe. The bread came out as expected. I used whole wheat flour instead of APF. Thanks for this recipe.

Super moist and not too sweet! I would also triple the crumble with half inside and half on top. I’d also line the bottom of the pan with parchment paper because my loaf stuck!

I and my family think that this is a hit! I think I’ve got it after 8 tries got the swirl in the middle, so good

Great flavor, I doubled the recipe and used the brown sugar suggestion. Great flavor. I used my 4 well loaf pan and it just fit. I am calling this a cinnamon cake verse a bread because that is how it turned out for me and I am NOT MAD

This bread was ok, at best. Mine was pretty dry and I was disappointed by the lack of cinnamony-ness. Not at all what I was hoping for.

Definitely recommend mixing dry ingredients first and then wet. I threw the mix in my ninja after and blended for 3min and it wasn’t crumbly or dry, though. I added a bit more vanilla and for the topping I used the recommended but then added 1tbsp brown sugar and then sprinkled white sugar across the entire top and it came out with a sweet and crispy top shell. I’m not a huge fan of cinnamon so this bread was perfect! Great with coffee, too!

This is delicious. But please know that you can cut the sugar in half, no problem.

I made a couple of minor changes. For the cinnamon in the bread, I reduced it to one top cinnamon and 1/4 top nutmeg and 1/4 top ginger. Since I made it around Christmas, I wanted to give it a little more holiday flavor. Then I did what was recommended by others regarding the topping. I used only brown sugar and doubled it. I put half in the middle and half on top. Well, my husband is a VERY picky eater particularly regarding sweets. He had 2 slices and went back for seconds. Success!!
