Christmas Pizza Appetizer

The lighter Christmas meal is a welcome contrast from this frigid, pizza-style appetizer.

Ingredients

  1. 1 (8 ounce) package crescent roll dough, unrolled and divided into triangles
  2. 1 (8 ounce) package reduced-fat cream cheese
  3. ¼ cup light sour cream
  4. ¼ cup light mayonnaise-style salad dressing (such as Miracle Whip®)
  5. 3 tablespoons ranch dressing mix
  6. ¼ cup diced bell pepper
  7. ¼ cup finely chopped broccoli florets
  8. ⅓ cup shredded Cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. Arrange crescent roll triangles in the shape of a Christmas tree on a baking sheet. Pierce dough with a fork.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, 10 to 12 minutes. Let cool while making the topping.
  4. Mix cream cheese, sour cream, salad dressing, and dressing mix together. Spread mixture over the cooled crescent tree. Top with bell pepper, broccoli, and Cheddar cheese. Chill for at least 1 hour.
  5. Substitute Italian dressing mix for the ranch if desired.
  6. Use any color bell pepper(s) you prefer.

Delicious! I did end up with almost exactly twice as much topping as needed so if I make it again I will definitely cut it in half. I forgot to add the cheddar cheese and it was still wonderful. Maybe I’m missing something obvious, but I didn’t find making the crescent triangles into a tree shape to be intuitive, I pressed the seams together and kind of winged it.
