Ingredients

  1. Semisweet ground chocolate (optional)
  2. 2 ounces chocolate stout, preferably a robust one (recommended: Young’s)
  3. 2 ounces Prosecco
  4. Serving suggestion: chilled champagne flute

Instructions

  1. If desired, rim the glass with chocolate: pour some ground chocolate onto a small plate. Roll the outer rim edge of the champagne flute in the chocolate.
  2. Pour the stout into the glass, taking care to make as little foam as possible. (The best way to do this: tilt the glass and pour the beer slowly down the inside of the glass.) Slowly pour Prosecco down over the back of a spoon and into the glass, layering the two alcohols for a dramatic cocktail. Drink.

John Warner II
Maybe it was that I didn’t use the shaved chocolate, but it was bitter. I followed the recipe exactly, even got it to layer like it shows in the picture. But it was bitter, I didn’t even want to take a second sip of it. Perhaps it’s that I don’t like stout or the champagne quality of the Prosseco was bad. But I wouldn’t make the attempt again on a dare.
