Ingredients
- 4 chicken cutlets (1/4 inch thick; 3/4 to 1 pound total)
- 1 1/2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for drizzling
- Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
- 4 slices Black Forest ham
- 8 slices smoked mozzarella
- 1 baguette
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 3 tablespoons dijon mustard
- 1 bunch watercress or arugula, tough stems removed
Instructions
- Preheat the broiler. Line a baking sheet with foil and evenly space the chicken cutlets in the center. Brush the chicken with 1 tablespoon olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Broil, rotating the baking sheet as needed so the chicken cooks evenly, until lightly browned, 2 to 3 minutes. Flip the chicken and continue to broil until cooked through, 2 to 3 more minutes.
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven and top each piece of chicken with 1 slice ham and 2 slices mozzarella. Broil until the cheese melts, 1 to 2 minutes. Season with salt and drizzle with olive oil.
- Meanwhile, cut the baguette crosswise into 4 equal pieces, then split open. Spread the bottom halves with butter and the top halves with mustard. Toss the watercress with the remaining 1/2 tablespoon olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Sandwich the chicken and watercress between the baguette halves.

Really good. I used WG baguette, regular mozzarella, and butterflied chicken breasts. Had to cook my chicken a little bit longer than the instructions. Served with chips.
wow,i think this recipe is good to be serve for some one you loved..
thanks for the recipe….i can do my own alone.
Wonderful sandwich; used what was already home, so had to make a few changes..Sourdough bread, romaine lettuce and of course to kick it up….AVOCADO & BACON!!!!
Very good. Super tasty. Great weeknight meal as it is quick to prepare. I used the grill as its Summer grill season and everything came out great. I put the ham slices on cooked chicken and melted the mozz cheese on top. Assembled right at the grill and served. I used spicy mustard on one side and mayo on the other and was plenty of flavor for our taste. Oh yeah…simply used romaine lettuce that already had in fridge.
Thanks for the tips all. I used Grey Poupon and it came out terrific!
I agree with the other reviewers, great sandwich but it could use something other than Dijon mustard to kick it up a notch.
Very easy and tasty. I added sauteed mushrooms and onions to the sandwich and everybody loved it. though it could use something other then just the Dijon.
What an excellent and easy sandwich that feeds quite a few. I made a couple of changes – used ciabatta bread and added tomatoes and onion to the mix. Wow – everyone loved it – will definitely do it again!
Very good but felt it could use something other than dijon. Will definitely experiment as the sandwich as a whole is excellent.
I made this sandwich very good we enjoy it very fulfilling. will do it again very tasty. Thank you
