Chicken 65 is a very, very straightforward spicy fried chicken dish that is typically served as an appetizer. Anyone can make it without making a mistake; you only need to try it once to realize how easy it is. Serve it hot and top with chopped cilantro or parsley, slices of lime or lemon, and sliced onion rounds. serves any dipping sauce of your choosing as well.

Ingredients
- 1 pound skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
- 2 teaspoons ginger-garlic paste
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- 2 teaspoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Pat chicken pieces dry, leaving a bit of moisture as this will help in binding the ingredients. Combine ginger-garlic paste, chili powder, flour, 1 teaspoon oil, and salt in a bowl; mix nicely. Coat each piece of chicken with the mixture.
- Heat 1 cup oil in a deep skillet over medium heat.
- Fry chicken pieces in batches in the hot oil until golden brown and no longer pink in the centers, 5 to 7 minutes per batch, making sure not to overcrowd. Drain on paper towels. Serve hot.
- You can use 1 teaspoon each garlic and ginger powder instead of paste, cayenne instead of chili powder, and corn flour instead of all-purpose, or a mix of both.
- If left to marinate for 15 to 30 minutes, it tastes even better–in my home no one has patience to wait until it marinates!
- We have determined the nutritional value of oil for frying based on a retention value of 10% after cooking. Amount will vary depending on cooking time and temperature, ingredient density, and specific type of oil used.

I was a little confused in the description of this recipe. It referred to it as an appetizer but called for 2 chicken breast halves? That translates to a meal for 2 to me. I made as written but used chicken breast tenderloins instead. There is just the 2 of us so I still used it as a meal but tenderloins are the way to go if you are wanting an appetizer. Cut into pieces would be even better but…. Easy and good but the ginger was overkill. I recommend cutting it in half. I will say that it is very moist and stayed tender.
