This is absolutely delicious, I can’t say enough how good it was.

My Husband and I both loved it! Made it just the way it is written (which is how I think you should do to review the recipe). Very good with frozen vanilla yogurt!

We used just 4 cups of pears, they more than filled the pie shell

Definitely keeping this recipe.

My first pear pie and it was delicious. Not hard to make either.

I was unsure about the cheddar, but this dish turned out to be delicious!! Like many other reviewers, I skipped the crust and just made it as a crisp. I also doubled the recipe and gave one to my neighbors, who very much enjoyed it. Other than that, I followed the recipe as is. I used medium cheddar, and it was perfect. I’ll definitely be making this again! Next time I might add a bit of nutmeg, just to give it an extra amount of autumn zing!

Very easy and got rave reviews at a dinner party. Served with a nice dessert wine.

I made this for a Christmas party last weekend. It was one of the first pies to be gobbled up! I was given a box of apples and fancy pears about a week and a half ago. Pears go bad so fast, so I looked around for something unique to do with them. I’m so happy I found this recipe!

This was a great way to use up those pears that are almost ‘over the edge’. It was relatively easy, and very tasty. When I mixed up the crumble top I had a little bit of shredded cheese left and threw it in the center, on top. I don’t recommend that – made a hard crust in the center that was difficult to cut through. Chill it a bit to give the filling time to set – it will be easier to cut.

I agree with the other reviewers. This is good exactly as is, but could make a great crisp as well.

This is a good base recipe. We use gruyere. We roll some into the crust dough. We also prefer a lattice to a crumble…the crumble is tasty.

This is amazing! The only thing I would do next time is possibly add a little cheese at the very end for a more cheesy flavor, but it is perfect as is.

Delicious!!! This one is a keeper. I did have to make some minor adjustments. 1) Substituted cornstarch for flour. 2) Chopped my pears into chunks instead of slices because they are not supermarket “pretty”. 3) Divided the pears and crumble to make two pies instead of one because 6 cups of chopped pears wouldn’t fit in one pie. Made thin pie crust and the pies were ready in about 30 mins. Brought a piece to my mom and she LOVED it.

Very Good! I just used a regular 9 ” frozen pie crust – next time I think I will use a larger one or not put as many pears in recipe. Will definitely fix again!

Followed recipe except I used orange juice instead of lemon. It was an amazing pie! My family loved it!!! I will make it again soon.

Made it exactly as the recipe says for fiance and myself and it is now our favorite pie! Absolutely delicious.

I liked this recipe, but I found it was a little too sweet for my taste. Also, I used a Muenster cheese instead of Cheddar, hoping for a more ‘smoky’ flavor, but to my disappointment, I could barely taste it at all. Next time I will tweak it a bit.

didn’t use the pie crust, and substituted 6 tbsps of flour for the cornstarch, also left the peel on the pears. Added 1/3 cup of raisins as well. The pear cheese crumble was a hit will make it again.

Was easy to make and received great reviews from our guests – fed four of us with us all having second servings. A few minor changes: I didn’t bother with the pie crust (who needs the extra calories) and I added a little tapioca to make sure it wouldn’t be too liquidy. Used sharp cheddar cheese – the only kind I buy. Will make again if I ever need to use up a bunch of ripe pears.
Taylor Mitchell
Really enjoyed this pie. Used a medium cheddar and Bartlett pears. Would highly recommend. Will experiment with a sharper cheddar next time we try this.
