Ingredients

  1. 1 2-to-3-pound skin-on center-cut salmon fillet (about 1 1/2 inches thick)
  2. 2 teaspoons ground coriander
  3. Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
  4. 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  5. 1 2-inch piece ginger, peeled and grated
  6. Grated zest and juice of 1 lemon
  7. 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Soak 1 large cedar grilling plank (15 by 6 inches) in a baking dish of water, about 2 hours; put a plate or mug on top to keep the plank submerged.
  2. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Sprinkle the salmon with the coriander, 1 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper. Let stand at room temperature about 15 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, heat the maple syrup, ginger, lemon zest and butter in a small saucepan over medium heat until slightly thickened, about 7 minutes. Stir in the lemon juice and set aside.
  4. Remove the cedar plank from the water and pat dry. Place the plank directly on the oven rack and preheat about 15 minutes. Using tongs or oven mitts, remove the hot plank from the oven and place the fish, skin-side down, on the wood. Brush the fish with half of the ginger glaze. Transfer the fish on the plank to the oven; put a baking sheet on the rack below to catch any drips. Cook until the salmon is just firm and slightly golden on top, about 12 minutes.
  5. Remove the fish from the oven and change the oven setting to broil. Brush the remaining ginger glaze over the salmon and broil until golden, 2 to 3 more minutes. Remove from the oven and let rest 5 minutes on the plank before serving. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Enjoyed this recipe. It was simple and delicious. I planked the salmon for 25 minutes using a briquette barbecue (no oven) and it was awesome.

Went well with a Pinot grigio on my sunny deck.
Thanks.

Excellent. Try this, you’ll love it. Seriously! Very easy, quick and everyone raved!. I used this on top of Tilapia. Fabulous!! I buy fresh ginger and keep it in the freezer, then grate or chop it, as needed. I didn’t cook it seven minutes. Yummy, yummy.

This was my 1st try at cedar plank salmon. It was easy, had pretty good flavor, but was not the best salmon recipe ever. I will definitely try to find a better cedar plank salmon recipe. As for now, I will stick to Paula Deen’s Fired Up Rosemary Salmon.

Incredibly easy but absolutely incredible flavor- best salmon recipe ever-melted in your mouth

We absolutely loved this recipe. Have grilled salmon on a cedar plank many times, but usually with a special salmon seasoning rub. This glaze really makes it very moist & gives it just the right flavoring of sweet & sour. Have requested it for Mother’s Day’s dinner.

Loved it! Loved it! Loved it! And I don’t even like salmon but this had real flavor and was so juicy. The herbed rice with raisins was perfect with it. The salmon is buttery and rich so the herbs and acidity from the lemon in the rice salad was a perfect balance. Also, getting the little bit of browning from the broiler on the glazed fish was so tasty. Definitely a do over when company comes to visit.

I don’t usually like salmon, but I really liked this recipe! Nice flavor and very moist. I think a gas broiler would’ve put a better crust on the glaze (I have an electric oven/broiler).

Absolutely delicious! I didn’t have any real maple syrup on hand, so I substituted agave syrup. The fish had great flavor, was very moist and even the kids ate it up!
