Fantastic flavor and health benefits! They’re a hit with my two and three year kids, and friends and relatives often gush over them.

Ingredients
- 1 head cauliflower, quartered
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 cup minced onion
- 3 tablespoons butter
- ½ cup Italian-seasoned dry bread crumbs
- salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Place the cauliflower into a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer until fork-tender, 5 to 7 minutes. Drain and allow to steam dry for a minute or two; chop into bite-size pieces.
- Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the onion in the butter until the onion is browned, about 5 minutes. Add 3 tablespoons of butter and cook until the butter is melted. Stir in the bread crumbs and cook until the mixture bubbles. Mix the cauliflower into the skillet and cook until the cauliflower is warm, 3 to 5 minutes. Season with salt and black pepper; serve hot.

I had boiled the cauliflower and wondered what to have it with and found your recipe. Had some sliced French baguettes in the freezer put some butter on them and stuck them in the toaster oven. Saw the frozen peas in the freezer and thought they would go along nicely so threw a cup in the rice cooker water in which I’d been boiling the cauliflower. When they were done I added them to the frying pan and seasoned with garlic salt. Had just a bit of tuna fish salad left from lunch and when it was all done I added it. I’ve found tuna fish gives something like this just the extra uumph that it needs. It doesn’t take much just two or three tablespoons and wow. I didn’t have any cheese on hand but if I did I think I would have grated some cheddar on top. Excellent recipe I really enjoyed it. The buttered baguettes were a wonderful addition.
I had it for dinner! To be honest, I over-cooked the cauliflower a bit and I did not wait for the bread crumb mixture to get bubbly before adding the cauliflower. The only thing that could have made it better is cheese, but then cheese makes everything better ?? Thanks for the recipe!
Excellent and so simple to make. I added shredded cheese on top at the end of the cooking cycle to make it a big hit with the kids
Easy to make. 1-2-3 and you are done. The flavor is absolutely delicious.
Yes
I made this dish for a family dinner and my super picky 13 yr old grandson – who hates cauliflower – had 2 servings!
This was just ok, to us. I cut the cauliflower into florets and steamed them rather than boil, and added shredded parm during the last bit of pan frying time, as one reviewer suggested. Although it was good, it’s not anything to rave over. Better than the plain-old steamed cauliflower.
LOVE!! This was so easy and tasted great! I usually don’t cook much cauliflower because most recipes don’t give it much flavor but this was FULL of flavor! I actually ate more of this than anything else I made for our meal! Will definitely be added to the regulars list in our house!
I used less bread crumbs and it was a little dry but added more butter and wonderful
Delicious alternate for keto/ cauliflower lovers! I added a healthy sprinkling of parmesan on top once it was finished and put it under the broiler to melt/ crisp up a bit. I also used crushed pork rinds instead of breadcrumbs (for keto diet) and seasoned them with chives and parsley.
Didn’t have mayo so substituted olive oil. My family really enjoyed it
I’ve now made this twice. Used more butter than it called for to fry onions (3tbs), a happy accident. Very good flavor. Paired so very well with the Chicken Cordon Bleu I made my wife. Delicious apart from and with that wine sauce. I’ll never see cauliflower the same way.
This was good. I used olive oil instead of butter. It was even better when I added some grated Parmigiano Reggiano and hot peppers. Thank you for the recipe.
Very Good…just added a little more margarine, used 2 bags frozen cauliflower and sprinkled with parsley
Pretty good. The best I’ve made yet
I substituted the 3 TBSP of butter with extra virgin olive oil to make it slightly healthier. Tasted great! I’ll make this again
The bread crumbs soaked up the butter and it never started to bubble. So I added one more T. of butter. Next time I will put the breadcrumbs on after I finish it. Also will add parmesan cheese.
I cut the cauliflower into florets, then microwaved. After I added the bread crumbs, it seemed a little dry, so I added 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil. Before serving, I sprinkled with grated Parm. Yummy!
Will definitely make it again. It was a hit with the kids which is tricky enough to get them to eat their veggies.
Will not make again. I stayed true to the recipe and found it was very bland.
Great alternative to a heavier carb side dish
