I have made this several times with wings, legs, and thighs. It is my go to for quick chicken. I don’t even have to tweak it except to turn the chicken over a little more than halfway through cooking.
This is an easy fast dinner that we have used numerous times. If you want a little bit of a kick, I suggest subbing the ketchup with siracha ketchup. It has a but if heat, but it isn’t overwhelming.
I’ve made these dozens of times for family and friends. They are always a big hit.
I make this all the time. Family loves it and it’s fast and easy to make. I usually put it in the oven for 5-10 more minutes than what it says. Recommend using a basting brush frequently or the sauce will sink to the bottom.
This is a very delicious dish. A nice balance of sweet and spicy to keep the taste buds ‘guessing.’ lol I definitely will be making this dish again. I adjusted the recipe slightly (3/4 c honey & ketchup) for a thicker sauce, however, it wasn’t as thick as I thought it would be. I omitted the garlic but added 1 hot pepper, 1 celery stalk and 1/4 onion thinly sliced. I mixed the liquid with a whisk and then brought it to a boil. I then dipped each thigh in the sauce prior to placing in the pan and poured the remaining liquid over the chicken, baking at 350 degrees for approx. 1 hr, basting the chicken periodically.
Just made this dish tonight and it is delish. I only had chicken wings in my freezer but I can’t wait to do this dish with boneless skinless chicken. Nikki you wanted a suggestion on how to have your chicken caramelized. When you make your sauce add two tablespoons of cornstarch. I noticed before I put the sauce on my chicken it was too liquid, so like any other dish that is too thin I always add cornstarch. You’ll see it caramelized and very tasty to eat.
I pulled mine out 5 minutes early. Awesome wings! Perfectly sticky and crunchy! Changed nothing. You won’t be dissappointed!
I prepared as recommended, then removed the chicken, and finished cooking the sauce on top of the stove over low-medium heat until thick and bubbly. Toss over chicken. This method avoid overcooking the chicken while getting the flavor and consistency that makes this easy dish amazing.
Was amazing
it was delicious I used 1/4cup of soy sauce and 1/4 cup of teriyaki sauce
The sauce was absolutely delicious!!
Yum. The whole family loved it. Next time we will go a little lighter on the ketchup and add red (bell) pepper, broccoli, and carrots. My husband and son added corn to their meals tonight and liked that. We ate it in bowls. It was delightful!!
I made these with chicken thighs. The flavor was ok – slightly too sweet for my tastes. The sauce was runny, even though I used the changes recommended by the top reviewer to make it thicker. HOWEVER, I then took the leftovers the next night, shredded the chicken, added corn starch to the sauce, added veggies and sauteed it and ate it over brown rice. Delicious! I would make this as a stir fry again next time, or try it with the wings, as thighs were too big and the flavor didn’t seep into the meat.
Wow… Just delicious!!!
Sauce burned in the oven and it was super watery, didn’t caramelize at all. Will make with suggestions next time. Thought it would be fine as is but I was wrong.
I made this last night for the second time for company and it was delicious. I followed the recipe exactly and it was just as good as the last time I made it. The chicken came out nice and juicy both times and the flavor was wonderful. I made it with chicken legs and boneless thighs and both were yummy. I will definitely make this again and again.
I think too much chicken fat dilutes the sauce we want to Caramelize…This is my second time making this recipe…learning from the first I rendered off a lot of the fat and juices…just peeked and “Yes” it’s caramelizing
I used 10 thighs sprinkled with thyme and sage and cooked the sauce as suggested. Came out AMAZING!
My go to recipe that is also great on ribs. I use bbq sauce instead of ketchup, cook sauce on stovetop first with 1 tsp corn starch until thick. You can kick this up a notch by generously adding a dry rub before you put in oven..broil on low for last two minutes to lock in flavor..absoutely delicious!
I used this recipe on Cornish Game Hens. It was really good! I’ll keep this recipe in my cooking rotation. Instead of using regular honey, I used Orange blossom honey, it gave it a little tang.
So good
